Sweetheart Dance & Nature Center Summer Camps

Sweetheart Dance (Grades K-8)
Back by popular demand, the Sweetheart Dance is taking place this year on Friday, February 15, at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. This is a great opportunity for dads, brothers, uncles, grandpas, etc, to show that special child in your life how much they mean to you. Enjoy music provided by a disc jockey, receive a commemorative photo of your group while enjoying cookies and punch. Fee: $26 per couple and $14 per child for additional siblings. Register for the dance today.

A special night is being planned for the young children in the district to bring their favorite mom, sister, aunt, grandma, etc. The evening will be an exciting sports activity night. More details will be forthcoming in the very near future; stay tuned.

Nature Center Summer Camps
Registration has begun for the E.L. Nature Center's summer camps! The camps provide programs for all age groups:

  • Ages 4-5 will enjoy Eco-Explorers and Nature Play camps. Kids will immerse themselves in nature and participate in activities using nature while learning about nature and animal habitats.  Campers must be potty trained and dressed to mess!
  • Ages 6-10 have even more camps to choose from! Kids can choose to participate in Junior Naturalist (learn about animals and plants), Log Cabin Life (learn about pioneer living at the log cabin), and Art in Nature (using nature as an amazing palate, kids will use natural building materials and make magic with nature).
  • Kids aged 10-12 are welcome to join Nature Inspired Robots. Kids will build their own robotic spider, learn how to program and give their robot a task. Outdoor adventures include learning about spiders and other creepy crawlers.

Please take a moment to review the nature center camps in more detail by visiting www.bloomfield.org/recreation

Ski & Snowboard Club

Registrations are flying in for the 2019 Ski & Snowboard Club!

If you plan to register and would like to avoid the $50.00 late fee, please register online at www.bloomfield.org/recreation or contact the Recreation Department at 248.433.0885 prior to 12/17/18. After that deadline, late registrations may be accepted if space is available.

More than 500 people ski and/or snowboard with us every year and our program is designed to develop in each person an appreciation of and the enjoyment of skiing/snowboarding. All ski club programs include age/skill level appropriate lessons in order to provide maximum enjoyment and safety on the slopes. Our programs are also available to non-residents.

Your child may be ready to join the Superstars (ages 5-9) half-day program, improve their skills in anticipation of high ski racing (Hill Masters), or participate in any of the other programs offered; we have a program sure to suit your child. Our department is available to answer all your questions regarding the right program for your skier/snowboarder.

The brochure below includes detailed information in addition to the mandatory forms that must be received by 1/4/19.
