100 Men Club Donates $14k to Bloomfield SCAMP

100 Men Club, a group of local men committed to making a positive difference within the Metro Detroit communities and their families, announced its latest donation to BLOOMFIELD SCAMP for $14,100.  The nomination was made by William Haines, Jessi Haines's husband (ARP teacher at Bloomfield Hills High School and Bloomfield SCAMP Assistant Coordinator).

SCAMP seeks to provide an exciting and therapeutic summer program for individuals with disabilities ages 3-26 in the Metro Detroit area.  Bloomfield SCAMP was founded in 1967 and was the first in our area. Campers enjoy a variety of structured activities that focus on social skills improvement, language enrichment, and prevocational skills.  They also enjoy art and music therapy and physical education. Participants swim at Walnut Lake, located behind West Hills Middle School.

Girls Lacrosse Camp (Grades K-8)
Each week will consist of different activities. Thursdays will be a "learning" session at which we will work on small sided drills, split into grades and work individually with girls in order to better certain areas of the game.  This two and a half hour session will be very instructional, working on draws, defense, dodging, shooting, goalie station, etc.  At the end of Thursday sessions, we will end with a quick game.  On Saturdays, the two hours will be dedicated to scrimmaging.  Girls will be split into common age groups (kindergartners will not be playing middle school), and the girls will rotate through mini scrimmages in order to be in a "game like" situation.  This will occur through the three weeks and the final Sunday which will be a full day of playing.  All parents are welcome to come and watch as we will simulate almost a "mini tournament" against one another.  Cost is $73.00.  A schedule of the Thursday drill plan/drills will be provided soon to registrants.  ALL PLAYERS ATTEND A SPECIAL SESSION ON SUNDAY, JULY 29 FROM 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Farm Camps (LIMITED SPACES LEFT) – Ages 6-11
These one week, all day, camps are spent on a full working farm, engaging in sustainable gardening, animal care, and exploring.  Time spent cooking and preparing fresh snacks in the kitchen and strengthening the connection between agriculture and everyday food choices.   Classes are $320/week.

Farm Camp: Dairy Discovery - What is mac without cheese, cereal without milk, or bread without butter?  Campers will "milk" this camp for all it's worth and discover the world of dairy.  Bowers Farm Camp will turn into Camp Creamery as campers harvest milk, churn butter and prepare their own delicious dairy delights. 13 spots left in 6/25 class, 2 spots left in class starting 7/23.

Farm Camp: Healthy Hearts, Hooves and Hocks - Keeping livestock healthy is never easy. Campers gain in-depth knowledge on what it takes to maintain the wellness of our farm. Become an agronomist, try out veterinary science skills and find out what an animal nutritionist does each day.  Taking the heart rate of a goat, handling chickens, and exploring other agricultural-based careers are just a few of the activities your animal enthusiast will experience. 1 spot left in 7/16 session, 1 spot left in 8/6 session.

Know & Grow Your Food: This camp is oriented to what connects us all: FOOD! What is local food? Campers grow, harvest, cook and eat their own food.  Harvest cucumbers to make pickles, college eggs to make omeletes and investigate hands-on sustainable agriculture. 3 spots left in 7/9 session, 1 spot left in 8/6 session.
