8th Grade Athletes:  Command Performance. You Deserve It.

Explosive Black Hawks Sports Performance Training (current 8th graders)

This session is for male and female athletes currently in 8th grade. There will be 16 total sessions on MOST Tuesday & Thursday nights and a few Saturday afternoons. Performance Training includes: injury prevention/force absorption, and speed, agility, core, total body and flexibility training. Sessions run by Christian Polega, MHA, RSCC, USAW-1, BHHS Sports Performance Coach.  Athletes pre and post tested in vertical jump, broad jump, pro-agility drill and 40 yard dash.

  • Class Fee:  $153.00 (participants receive a camp t-shirt)

Drama Kings and Queens

Drama and Forensics Intensive Camp (Grades 6-8)

Two three-week intensive acting and forensics camps. Each session consists of scene study, improv, drama games, forensics, monologues, mock auditions for and an intro to theater and film.

Each session will end with a showcase in front of parents on the Bloomfield Hills Middle School stage. Instructor will have invited an agent from one of the top agencies in Michigan to come watch the show.

Classes take place from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Tuesdays through Fridays.  Kids will have fun learning about acting while gaining confidence and knowledge of dramatic arts.  Classes will take place in the cafeteria and kids will be outside playing games as well!

Train with the Best - Volleyball Summer Camp

Camp Director, Bob Hurdle, has a rich history of coaching experience: BHHS Varsity Head Coach; 2012-2017 and Andover High SchoolVarsity Head Coach; 1977-1982 & 2000-2011.  

  • BH Precision Summer Volleyball Camp (Grades 6-10)
  • Runs from 7/9/18 - 7/13/18 at BHHS
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Fee: $153/week

This camp is designed to stress proper fundamentals and techniques. Through concentrated skill training, participants will see major improvements in their individual performances. Training is designed for beginner to advanced skill levels. Athletes will be grouped accordingly. Skills emphasized: passing, serving, setting, attacking, digging & blocking as well as offensive and defensive systems. The final day of training will focus on game application and scrimmages. Camp t-shirt provided.

Lacrosse Life:  Eat, Sleep and Play!

Girls Lacrosse is back by popular demand!

  • Grades 3 and 4:  
    The Girls 3rd/4th grade Lacrosse Program is sponsored by BHMS Lacrosse Association. Players will be taught the rules, fundamental skills and basic strategies; team scrimmages will be offered; game opportunities may be scheduled. Players must provide lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth guard. All players must be US Lacrosse Youth members Season Fee:$163
  • Grades 5 and 6:
    This LAX program is provided by the BHMS Lacross Association. Coaches are extensively experienced with the 5th-6th grade age group. New players will be taught rules, fundamental skills and basic strategies of the game. Experienced players will be challenged to take their skills and strategies to the next level. Tournaments TBD. Players must provide stick, goggles mouth guard and game uniform. All players must be US Lacrosse Youth members, Season Fee: $188
  • Practices/games take place at Fox Hills from 3/26/18 - 6/5/18.  Game times will vary.
  • Instructors: Andy Reed, Emma Mucci, Alex McCafferty and Morgan Girardi.

Make A Splash
  • Learn to Swim Classes
    April 21 – June 2 (see online catalog or call for class times)
    During Guppy classes, kids as young as 6 months to 4 years relax and work with parents in the pool and the Guppy class is just the beginning.  Children will progress through the various levels of swim training as they learn and become comfortable with an increased skill set in the pool. Details for all of the age/swim levels are available at the website below.
  • Spring Tune Up for Summer Team Swimmers with Mike Lane (Ages 6-18)
    April 30 – May 25 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
    A four week program where one week is spent working on each of the four competitive strokes.  This program takes place at the Bloomfield Hills High School pool.  Girls and boys can enroll as long as they can complete one length of the 25 yard pool.  Accommodations made for ability levels.
  • Springboard Diving Training with Scott McHugh
    March 8 – March 29
    Lessons and training for students interested in learning competitive dives for competition. Learn and improve a list of dives for middle and high school competition. Beginners is recommended for younger divers with little to no diving experience (Recommended for Grades 1-5). Intermediate is recommended for younger divers with basic skills (Recommended for Grades 5-8). Advanced is intended for competitive divers with competition experience (Recommended for Grades 6-12).

Spring Break Camp (Ages 5-12)

Are your kids looking for something fun to do on Spring Break (Monday, April 2 - Friday, April 6, 2018)? Join us as we do everything fun! Play kickball, floor hockey, make crafts, play games, bring a friend or make new ones. Students must bring their own lunch, morning snack and beverage in a non-breakable container.  Before and after care available.

Summer Day Camps - BH Recreation

Back by popular demand, the weekly summer fun camps are back and registration is open!

  •      Huck Finn (Pre-K – Grade 3)
  •      Bloomfield Summer Fun (Grades 3-7)
  •      Sports & Adventure Camp (Grades 3-7)

All camps take place at West Hills Middle School at 2610 Lone Pine Road in West Bloomfield. Enjoy crafts, create fun and interesting art projects, play sports and games and participate in special events and weekly field trips. Campers will go to the water front daily for swimming and beach time. Other beach activities include water carnivals, fishing, canoe, and pontoon rides.  As soon as field trip information and mandatory forms become available, you will receive them.

A Friday Night Out

In need of a Friday night out? Bloomfield Recreation has you covered! Your child will enjoy the Friday Craft Night and/or the Friday Night Freak Out, held on several days in February, March, May, and June from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. while you enjoy dinner out on the town!

In the Friday Craft Night, students will enjoy using clay, paint, and new techniques to make projects that they will then take home at the end of class. In the Friday Night Freak Out, students will dance under disco lights, work on tumbling, braid hair, and much more!

Siblings can register at a reduced rate by asking the recreation team. Please bring $1 for a pizza dinner. Space is limited. Register at or call 248.433.0885.
