If your child plans to attend school in Bloomfield Hills Schools during the 2018 - 2019 school year, it's time to complete Online Back to School Registration!

Back to School Online Registration is now open for the 2018-2019 school year.  If your child plans to attend school in Bloomfield Hills Schools for the 2018-2019 school year, you are required to complete this process prior to the first day of school.  

The Back to School Online Registration process is quick and convenient, allowing you to complete most or all of the process online, depending on your child’s school and grade.

To begin this process, please visit If you are new to our district or do not remember your username and password, please use the password reminder tool on the page.  Enter the email address we have on file for you and your login credentials will be emailed to you at that email address.  In addition, we mailed a reminder of all login information to your home mailing address on record.  

To complete Step Two of Online Back to School Registration, visit It is important to note that the Step Two software is different from the Step One software.  Unfortunately, this means your login information is not the same for both systems.  If you have forgotten your login for Step Two, you can use the password reminder tool on the Step Two login page.  If that does not work, please send an email to  Please allow a full two business days for a response from our team.

Please do not attempt to create new accounts for either Step One or Step Two - each family has an account already established that is linked to your child(ren). Please be sure to keep login information somewhere safe as you will need it throughout the year.

Bus Routes

Bus Route Information

Bus route information will be available in My Bloomfield Parent Portal after August 28, 2018.  To login, visit and login with the same identification you used for Back to School Online Registration.  Select the student you wish to view and use the menu on the left side of the screen to navigate to the section for transportation.  Within the "Transportation Info" section, you will see the bus pickup time, location, bus info, drop-off time, drop-off location, and bus info.

Due to new students enrolling throughout the year, pickup times are subject to change. Please note that our ridership fluctuates daily based on after school sports/clubs and therefore the times listed as drop off are only baseline. Parents should expect a 15 minute window prior to and after assigned stop time. We suggest you check bus route information the day before school begins for the most updated bus information. Any bus changes throughout the year will be updated on the site.

Students need to be at their stop at least 5 minutes prior to pickup time. Please have students outside at their stop (not waiting indoors). This will keep our buses running more efficiently and on schedule. Students should be dressed appropriately for the weather.

High School runs are set per board policy and are not subject to change. All stops are set so that students have no more than 1/2 mile walk to their stop.

Requesting Bus Stop Changes

Any requests for bus stop changes must be done by completing a Transportation Request Form. The form should be emailed to or faxed to (248) 341-6298. Due to the heavy volume of requests we receive, it may take up to 2 weeks before we can get back with you. Thank you for your patience.

How to Load Money to Your Child's Lunch Balance

    To deposit money into your student's account online, please visit  Login and select the school from the left navigation.  Add the amount you wish to purchase to your shopping cart and process your payment electronically.

    Send to school with student's full name in memo area. Make checks payable to: Bloomfield Hills Schools

    Please put in envelope and print the student's full name on the outside of the envelope. Please do not send large amounts of cash. Cash is accepted at the registers in the middle and high schools.
  • Forgotten passwords
    Forgotten passwords can be obtained on the login page of the payment screen.
  • We are also able to accept deposits at each school cafeteria. Please make all checks payable to Bloomfield Hills Schools and reference your student's name and school in the memo area of the check.


Snow Day Decisions

Dear Bloomfield Hills Schools Families,

Given the winter weather we've experienced the past few school years, I thought it might be helpful to remind you of the process by which I make school closing decisions.

To minimize disruption to the educational process, the goal is always to keep school in session unless road conditions, severe cold or other weather conditions pose a significant risk to student safety. In the 2013-2014 winter, record snowfalls and extended bitter cold (beyond -25 degrees) reacted with one another (e.g. salt not working), making actual conditions even tougher to accurately predict. In the 2014-2015 winter, we faced some additional days that did not nearly reach the -25 and beyond mark, but also a few that did.

However, just as there is no defined depth of snow accumulation that indicates closure (because of the overall effect of wind, ice, temperature, humidity and other factors), likewise, there is no exact temperature that indicates closure. Typically, when wind chills head into the -22 and below range, we consider school cancellation because frostbite can set in within approximately 30 minutes. If the road conditions are not favorable, bus delays may push bus stop wait times into the 30 minute range, posing a risk to our students. For that reason, a designated member of my administration will often drive district roads between 3:00 and 4:30 a.m. and report to me findings and recommendations that help inform my decision. I also consult with weather authorities and other area superintendents, but ultimately I have to make a decision based on what I feel is in the best interest of Bloomfield Hills students.

Whenever possible, I try to provide advance notice of school cancellation so that parents can make alternate plans. Yet, this has to be balanced with waiting as long as possible to make sure the weather stays true to the forecast. Of course, no forecast is perfect, and sometimes the temperatures and snowfall amounts vary, which supports waiting until 4:30 am to make the decision (despite the difficulty we know this poses to families who have less time to make alternate arrangements). There is no way to be perfect with this. I can only make the best possible decision in real time with the best available information.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Michigan winters are never predictable or easy to navigate, but we will do our very best to keep both learning and safety as our top priorities.

School Closure Notifications

Through our upgrade to My Bloomfield in the fall of 2018, families are automatically signed up to receive messages from Bloomfield Hills Schools and their child's school building, including school closure notices, assuming correct contact information was entered by the parent/guardian during Back to School Online Registration.

If you did not enter your contact information or if that information has changed since that time, you can always modify this information by visiting During the Back to School Online Registration window, a red link will appear near the top right corner of your screen for registration.  You may modify your information by clicking that link and navigating through the process, step by step.  If the registration window has completed, a "My Information" link will appear in the same spot.  You can use this link to access and modify your contact information.

Once you are sure your contact information is accurate, you can navigate to our upgraded My Bloomfield notification system (My Bloomfield Q Communication) to manage your contact preferences by selecting "Communication with my child's school."

All notices, including school closures, observe "quiet hours" between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.  This means that regardless of the preferences you set in My Bloomfield Q Communication, you will not receive notices between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. from anyone in the system (which may include the district, your child's school, your child's teacher, an athletic coach, etc.) 

In the rare event we are able to call a school closure the day prior, the notice will be sent prior to 11:00 p.m.  Most often, a school closure is not called until after the roads are fully assessed and the appropriate experts have been consulted.  This extensive process usually concludes around 4:30 a.m., which enables us to place the notification call to district families around 5:00 a.m.  In some instances, a decision is made slightly later and the notification placed slightly later.

In your contact preferences in My Bloomfield Q Communication, you will see that you do not have the option to opt-out of Emergency notices.  An Emergency notification will only be issued in the event of a mass natural disaster or significant safety/security risk/incident.  Emergency notifications do not observe "quiet hours" and can be sent 24/7.  We will reserve this communication for only the most severe notices and hope never to use this feature of our notification system.

In the section for School Closure Notifications (above) we included some instructions for modifying your contact information.  The same is true for communicating with your child's school.  Families are automatically signed up to receive messages from their child's school building, assuming correct contact information was entered by the parent/guardian during Back to School Online Registration.

Assuming correct contact information was provided during and since registration, your child's school already has everything they need to send regular email notices, call you in an emergency, and send automated low lunch balance notifications.  Each school issues a weekly email newsletter, highlighting student and staff accomplishments, reminders for upcoming events, and important information you need to know.  In addition, schools will send email notices when there is an important matter to discuss outside of the email newsletter.  If you are new to our district, you will come to recognize these emails and we would encourage you to take time to read each of them for important news and information.

If you are not receiving email notices, please send an email to and someone will reach out to you as soon as possible, typically within two business days.

Reporting an absence

Each school operates an attendance line and we would encourage you to call that line as soon as you know your child will be absent.  The telephone numbers for each school's attendance line are posted on the main landing page of their website.  To find those numbers, navigate to the top of this screen, select "Schools" from the main menu, select your child's school, and scroll through the page until you see the "contact" section on the right side.

Teacher Communications

Depending on your child's grade level, you may connect with your child's teacher in a variety of ways.  The following are the standard methods of communication utilized by Bloomfield Hills Schools teachers:

  • Google Classroom: Especially in the upper grade levels, many teachers organize their classroom and the classroom work on Google Classroom.  Google Classroom is mainly used to facilitate teacher to student communications.  Your child's teacher will connect with you if they expect any participation on your part in Google Classroom.
  • My Bloomfield Class Pages: Many teachers have elected to host a class page on My Bloomfield.  To see these class pages, login to with the same login you used for Online Back to School Registration.  Navigate to the top left corner and select "Groups Dashboard" from the menu.  From here, you'll have access to all of the class pages supported by your child's teacher(s).
  • My Bloomfield Q Communication: This 2018 upgrade to our My Bloomfield system now enables two-way, private, safe communication between you and your child's teacher(s).  Visit the Update Your Personal Contact Information page to adjust your notification settings.

Pay to Participate FAQ

Families must pay the Pay-to-Participate fee before participating in any sport, which includes try-outs. This fee can only be paid online or through the Athletics and Recreation Department located at the Booth Center.

Who is my child's teacher?

Depending on your child's grade level, teacher/classroom assignments are distributed at different times.  Middle School and High School schedules are available for pickup at the Registration Events (listed in the top tab of this page), assuming the family has completed the Online Back to School Registration process.  Schedules will not be released to families unless Step One of the process is fully complete.

Elementary School teacher notifications are provided late in the day on the Friday before school begins.  This is due to the high fluctuation in enrollment numbers, which often continues even into the Labor Day weekend.  Assuming Online Back to School Registration is complete, you can find your child's teacher by visiting and navigating to the child.  Scroll to the "Schedule" section to view the teacher.  If you have not yet completed Online Back to School Registration, you will be unable to view this information until that is complete.

Bell Schedules & Door Lock Times

When does school start for the day?

Our four elementary schools (Conant, Eastover, Lone Pine, and Way) begin class at 9:05 a.m.  Students should plan to arrive between 8:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., when there is adult supervision for arriving students and they have time to get settled for the start of class.

The three middle schools (BHMS, EHMS, and WHMS) begin class at 8:15 a.m.  Again, students should plan to arrive approximately ten minutes early to prepare for class.

Bloomfield Hills High School begins at 7:25 a.m.  The parking lots, carpool lane, and bus loop can become congested a few minutes before school so please plan accordingly.

When do the doors lock for the school day?

At all levels, the doors lock with the start of the school day - sometimes up to five minutes beyond that if necessary, due to extenuating circumstances. The doors unlock no more than five minutes before the end of the school day.
