Please complete the appropriate form needed for your child and return it to your child's school.

Bloomfield Hills Schools is committed to providing a safe and healthy school environment. Updated Medical Action Plans (MAPs) and Medical Management Plans (MMPs), along with our BHS Authorization for Prescription and Non-Prescription Medication forms are required at the start of every school year and expire on the last day of school instruction. These forms provide BHS with required medical direction from your child’s licensed healthcare provider and allows staff to provide services including medication administration, medical procedures and/or medical interventions. Without prescribed orders, only interventions including soap, water, adhesive bandages, ice and age appropriate comfort will be provided. Please direct any questions that you may have to our district nurse at health@bloomfield.org or 248-341-5435.

New and updated forms may be submitted to the school that the student will be attending for the 2023-24 school year. If your child has developed a new health condition or, if your child is new to the district and has a medical condition that is dependent on staff support, please contact the school directly or the district nurse, as soon as possible at health@bloomfield.org.

Bloomfield Hills High School will welcome students according to the schedule below for schedule pick-up and to receive their annually issued virtual password.

8 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 2:30 p.m.

Seniors - Monday, August 21
Juniors - Tuesday, August 22
Sophomores - Wednesday, August 23
Freshmen - Thursday, August 24

Friday, August 25 will be for new families and anyone who didn't previously pick up their schedule. 

Middle school students will be able to login to ParentPortal on September 3 to view their schedule.

Elementary school students will have a meet the teacher event at their school on August 31 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Depending on your child's grade level, teacher/classroom assignments are distributed at different times. 

• Grades K-5 (including developmental kindergarten) - available in ParentPortal on August 30
• Grades 6-8 - available in ParentPortal on September 3
• High School - available the week of August 21 at schedule pick up at BHHS. Schedules will be viewable in ParentPortal on September 3.

Locating Your Child's Bus Route

Bus route information is available through the Stopfinder app and on Parent Portal on Friday, September 1, 2023. In Parent Portal, under your student's name, select the "Transportation Info" link on the left side.  

Parents/guardians will also receive an email invitation directly from the Stopfinder app on September 1 to access bus information for the children in their home.

Please check your child's bus information again the night prior to the start of school due to new student registrations that may require the adjustment of routes and times for all riders.

The walk zones for schools are available here. If you live within 1.5 miles of your school, be sure to review the map for your school.

Please note that due to new students enrolling throughout the year, pickup times are subject to change. Any bus changes throughout the year will be updated on the Stopfinder app.

Students should be waiting outside at their stop (not indoors) at least 5 minutes prior to pickup time. Ridership fluctuates daily based on after school sports/clubs and therefore the times listed as drop off are a baseline. For afternoon drop offs, families should note a 15-minute window prior to, and after, assigned stop time. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be dropped off only if an older sibling on the bus or a guardian/authorized adult is at the stop to meet the child. If this is not the case, your child will be taken back to the schools latchkey program.

Families are automatically signed up to receive messages from Bloomfield Hills Schools, their child's school building, teacher(s), and other staff using a solution called "Remind." Now is a great time to login to your Remind account and make sure your notifications are set properly.

Online Registration

The Annual Back to School Registration process for current families is open for the 2023-24 school year. If your child is attending school (kindergarten through 12th grade, including developmental kindergarten) in Bloomfield Hills Schools, you are required to register annually. Our online system is quick and convenient, allowing you to complete the majority of the process from your own home on a desktop or laptop computer.

1. Log in to Parent Connect. Your username is an assigned PIN number. If you need assistance with your login credentials, please respond to this email.
2. Click on the red "Back to School Registration / My Information" link at the top of the page.
3. Select “Edit” next to the first Contact then follow the registration process. For students, select “Edit” under each Student.
4. Fill out the required fields within each question. When you have completed a section, the check box on the left hand side of the screen will have a check mark for that section.
   Note: There is a box you can check on the emergency contacts screen to automatically apply the same information to all children in your household:

6. Scroll to the top of the page and click the Submit button in the upper right corner.
7. If there are remaining students to complete registration for, the registration process will load for the next student. If there are no further students to register, you have completed the process. Thank you!

Medical Request for Meal Accommodations 

Free School Meals for All Students Has Returned

The Michigan School Meals program is a state-funded reimbursement program that will be providing all pre-K through grade 12 students in our district free breakfast and lunch throughout the 2023– 24 school year.

Menus will be posted in late August to the food service webpage.

Although this benefit is available to all 4- to 26-year-olds that are enrolled in the Bloomfield Hills school district, applications will still need to be filled out for families that qualify.  The updated benefit form that was previously used for Free or Reduced lunch pricing, is now called the Education Benefits form.  Without this information, our district will lose important state funding for educational programs. As a family, you may potentially qualify for things such as free testing, transportation discounts and free pay-to-participate for sports and clubs if you qualify for these educational benefits in our district.

The only changes to the food served in Bloomfield Hills schools with Aramark this year will be to increase the choices in the elementary schools and to increase the food stations and options as well as ala carte and snack items (priced per item) in our middle schools as we transition into the newly designed schools.

Please know that Bloomfield Hills Schools has no intentions to decrease the quality of food or food choices because of this program.  We look forward to feeding your children in the 23-24 school year FREE meals!

Pay to Participate Fees may be paid online at http://www.bloomfield.org/payments. If you have not yet set up your account, e-mail alewis@bloomfield.org for your welcome letter, or you can complete this form and mail it in.

Pay to Participate fees cannot be paid at the school. They must be paid online or sent to the Athletics Office at the Booth Center, 7273 Wing Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, 48301.

If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, your pay to participate fee may be waived. You must note on your lunch application that it is okay to share your status with our department. We do not want any student to miss the opportunity to participate in athletics or clubs due to financial hardship. Please contact the Athletic Director or your principal. **Note, the system is set up so that if you use your established Community Pass account, you can register yourself and the amount will come up as $0.00. If that does not work for you, send an email to alewis@bloomfield.org

Note, for tryout sports, you can pay after you find out if your student made the team, payments must be made before the student can participate in official practices.

Once you pay your fee, it is NOT refundable until the end of the school year upon written request. If your student participates in any athletic contest (or 3 or more times for intramural), your fee will not be refunded. If your student attends a club three or more times, your fee will not be refunded. If you paid for sports and your student only participated in clubs, you will be refunded the difference at the end of the school year.

When does school start for the day?

Our four elementary schools (Conant, Eastover, Lone Pine, and Way) begin class at 9:05 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Students should plan to arrive between 8:55 a.m. and 9 a.m., when there is adult supervision for arriving students and they have time to get settled for the start of class.

The two middle schools (South Hills and North Hills) begin class at 8:25 a.m. and end at 3:20 p.m.  Again, students should plan to arrive approximately ten minutes early to prepare for class.

Bloomfield Hills High School begins at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m. The parking lots, carpool lane, and bus loop can become congested a few minutes before school, so please plan accordingly.

To minimize disruption to the educational process, the goal is always to keep school in session unless road conditions, severe cold or other weather conditions pose a significant risk to student safety.

There is no defined depth of snow accumulation that indicates closure (because of the overall effect of wind, ice, temperature, humidity and other factors).  Likewise, there is no exact temperature that indicates closure. Typically, when wind chills head into the -22 and below range, we consider school cancellation because frostbite can set in within approximately 30 minutes. If the road conditions are not favorable, bus delays may push bus stop wait times into the 30 minute range, posing a risk to our students.

In these types of weather-related school closure situations, a designated member of the administration will often drive district roads between 3 and 4:30 a.m. and report findings and recommendations that help inform our decision. We also consult with weather authorities and other area superintendents, but ultimately we have to make a decision based on what we feel is in the best interest of Bloomfield Hills students.

Whenever possible, we try to provide advance notice of school closures so that families can make alternate plans. Yet, this has to be balanced with waiting as long as possible to make sure the weather stays true to the forecast. No forecast is perfect and sometimes the temperatures and snowfall amounts vary, which supports waiting until 4:30 am to make the decision (despite the difficulty we know this poses to families who have less time to make alternate arrangements). There is no way to be perfect with this. We can only make the best possible decision in real time with the best available information.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Michigan winters are never predictable or easy to navigate, but we will do our very best to keep both learning and safety as our top priorities!

Each school operates an attendance telephone line and we would encourage you to call that line as soon as you know your child will be absent. The telephone numbers for each school's attendance line are posted on the main landing page of their website. To find those numbers, navigate to the top of this screen, select "Schools" from the main menu, select your child's school, and scroll through the page until you see the "contact" section on the right side.

Each elementary and middle school's website has suggested school supplies listed by grade.

High school students will be provided a suggested supply list on the first day of school from their teachers, common supplies include: 3 ring binder, folders to organize work, pens, pencils, paper or notebooks.

Bloomfield Hills High School is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) learning environment. BYOD is a technology initiative where students bring a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is any wireless and/or portable electronic piece of equipment that includes laptops, netbooks, tablets/slates, and smart phones. A keyboarded device is preferred. Devices will be provided by BHS to students in grades K-8 so that all students have the same technology environment.
