PARENTS OF 8TH GRADERS - FINAL REMINDER

BH High School (BHHS) counselors met with BHMS 8th graders to hand out 9th grade course selection sheets and provide instructions on how to enter course requests into MiStar. Counselors will be back at BHMS on Wednesday, March 14, to meet by appointment only with each 8th grader AND a parent/guardian, to review the course selections.

IF YOUR 8TH GRADER WILL BE ATTENDING BHHS in the fall, please do the following:

If you haven't done so, schedule a March 14 appointment with the appropriate BHHS counselor right away. Remember, the appointment is for BHMS 8th graders AND a parent/guardian, and will be held here at BHMS. Counselor assignments are broken down by the first letter of the student's last name, and are shown on the scheduling site. Please click HERE to set up your appointment.

Remind your 8th grader to enter course requests in MiStar prior to March 14. The hard copy of the course selection sheet should be signed by a parent/guardian, and turned in to the BHHS counselor at the March 14 appointment here at BHMS.

Please note:

  • Students who WILL BE attending BHHS, but do not have an appointment scheduled, will be assigned an appointment even if a parent/guardian is unable to attend.
  • Students who are certain they WILL NOT BE attending BHHS do not need to sign up for an appointment

Refer questions about this process to BHMS 8th grade counselor, Mr. Flevaris.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A WEB AMBASSADOR

This week's student-written article is by 8th grade WEB Ambassador, Abby Sung. Abby describes what she gets out of giving her time to the WEB program. WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs". 8th graders, who are selected through an application process at the end of 7th grade, are trained as WEB "Ambassadors". Those ambassadors are paired with 5th grade students, who they mentor at orientation and throughout the the school year, to help them acclimate to BHMS.

SHOP AT KROGER AND SUPPORT BHMS

You can support BHMS when you do your regular shopping at Kroger by designating Bloomfield Hills Middle School as your Plus Card Community Rewards program recipient. The Kroger website provides instructions for setting up a new account, or for designating Bloomfield Hills Middle School (Organization Code 28755) to your existing account.

Once you've designated BHMS as your organization, each time you shop at Kroger and use your Plus Card, BHMS earns reward points, which translate into checks paid to BHMS quarterly. That's all there is to it!
