FOR FAMILIES OF CURRENT BHMS 8TH GRADERS

8TH GRADE RECOGNITION CEREMONY

(CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL DATE/TIME)
WHEN: Thursday, June 14, from 12:30 until 2 p.m.
WHO: BHMS 8th graders and families
WHERE: BHMS Gymnasium
CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS:
Mr. Flevaris

DRESS: Students should consider this a more "dressed up" event than a normal school day. Girls typically wear a dress or nice pants and top. Boys typically wear dress pants and a button-down shirt and tie. Jeans, shorts and t-shirts are strongly discouraged. We encourage students to come to school in the morning dressed for the event. However, if a student chooses to bring a change of clothes for the event, they should be stored in the student's locker. Teachers will provide time to change for the event, if necessary.

DISMISSAL AFTER THE CEREMONY: Parents/guardians may elect to take their 8th grader home with them following the ceremony, but must sign them out in person in the office before they leave the building. Students may not be signed out by any other family member without verbal parent/guardian consent. For the safety of our students, attendance will be taken after the ceremony. Students who have not been signed out by a parent will be marked unexcused.

8th GRADE YEAR END PARTY
WHEN: Thursday, June 14, from 8 until 10 p.m.
WHO: BHMS 8th graders only; no siblings or outside guests
WHERE: Bloomfield Swim and Tennis, 251 E. Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hill

MYP COORDINATOR'S CORNER by Kathy Janelle

Please read this MYP Newsletter from BHMS MYP Coordinator / IB Teacher Leader, Kathy Janelle. She has included a wonderful article about encouraging children to spend more time outdoors and to deepen their appreciation of the natural world. Mrs. Janelle says "As we embark on summer vacation, I found this article very fitting about the benefits of children becoming more involved with nature".

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION COLLECTED ALL YEAR AROUND

BHMS collects Box Tops for Education all year around There is a collection box in the main office where the clipped Box Tops can be dropped off. REMEMBER . . . each Box Top is worth ten cents to BHMS, but worth nothing if you toss it in your waste basket. The math is simply amazing. If 750 students each brought in only 10 Box Tops a month, for the nine months of the school year, BHMS would earn $6,750 annually to use toward programs or purchases not covered under the budget. Thanks for supporting BHMS in small ways that can have big results. For a list of products that contain Box Tops, click HERE.

SHOP AT KROGER AND SUPPORT BHMS

You can support BHMS when you do your regular shopping at Kroger by designating Bloomfield Hills Middle School as your Plus Card Community Rewards program recipient. The Kroger website provides instructions for setting up a new account, or for designating Bloomfield Hills Middle School (Organization Code 28755) to your existing account.

Once you've designated BHMS as your organization, each time you shop at Kroger and use your Plus Card, BHMS earns reward points, which translate into checks paid to BHMS quarterly. That's all there is to it!
