Dear Bloomfield Hills Middle School (BHMS) Families:

All families with students in grades K-12 in the district are required annually to complete Online Back to School Registration (referred to as “registration” below).The online system allows you to complete the process from home. This year there is no confirmation sheet to print out. Also new this year, fees for Farm & Nature Center field trips will no longer be charged.

If you’ve completed that registration process, you and/or your student(s) can come to Bloomfield Hills Middle School (BHMS) to pick up teacher assignments and first day instructions on Tuesday, August 28, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. In addition to receiving teacher assignments, when you come on August 28 you will also be able to:

• Turn in completed athletic physical forms (mandatory before try-out for or participation in a BHMS sport).
• Join BHMS Music Boosters. 5^th graders can try sample sizes of 5^th grade music shirts before ordering online.
• Join BHMS PTO, and see samples of Lancer spirit wear that can be ordered.

There will be a limited number of laptops available that day for those who do not have computer access to complete online registration.

NOTE: Any residency requirements requested by the district must be turned in to Student Services prior to coming to BHMS on August 28 to pick up teacher assignments.

  SAVE TIME WHEN YOU COME ON THE 28th!

If you complete Step 1 of registration before 3 p.m. on Monday, August 27 (the day before coming to BHMS), your student's name will show up on the list of "confirmed registrations" and you can go directly to the line to pick up a teacher assignment. It will take just a few minutes.

If you complete Step 1 of registration after 3 p.m. on Monday, August 27 (the day before coming to BHMS), confirmation will have to be done manually at a separate table before you can pick up a teacher assignment. Please plan extra time to go through both lines.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I get my student’s teacher assignment before August 28? Teacher assignments will not be given out by office staff prior to August 28.

Can a family friend or other BHMS parent be given my child’s teacher assignment? No. Teacher assignments will only be given out to a student or a student's parent/guardian. See the next paragraph about how you can receive teacher information via e-mail on August 29.

What if I can’t come to BHMS on the 28^th? If you have completed the registration process and are not able to come in on August 28, you can e-mail Mrs. Parks in the BHMS office at mparks@bloomfield.org, with a subject line of “Teacher Assignment". Include your student’s first and last name and grade. The teacher assignment will be e-mailed on August 29, to your e-mail address on file with the district.

What if I’m having trouble with the online registration system? If you have tried but are unsuccessful at completing the registration process, feel free to call the BHMS office at 248-341-6000.

Do I have to complete both Step 1 and Step 2 of registration in order to get the teacher assignment? No. See “Note About Step 2” below.

 DIRECTIONS FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION

To complete the process, you will need to log in to your “My Bloomfield” account, which can be found by visiting: www.bloomfield.org/MyBloomfield. If you do not remember your user name or password, you can use the retrieval option. If you are new to our district, you will need to wait until you receive your "My Bloomfield" PIN and password to complete online registration. 

Note about Step 2: Step 2 of the process provides you with “one stop shopping” where you can make payments for  items that are specific to BHMS or your student. Completing Step 2 now is convenient and recommended, but is NOT a requirement for obtaining teacher assignments on August 28. If you do choose to complete Step 2 now, look for these items when you get to the link for Step 2:

• Pay to Participate Fees, Bloomfield Hills Middle School 2018-19 (required for students in ALL grades who wish to participate in a BHMS before or after school sport or club). Sports do not start until school begins. Watch for an e-mail from Middle School Athletic Director, Avis Najor, for sports information. Clubs usually start late September to early October, and a list of clubs and sign-up procedures will be communicated to students via daily announcements and to families via a weekly Lancer Update in mid- to late-September.
  

•  PTO Dues BHMS 2018-19

From the menu on the bottom left side of the page:

• The “Lunch BHMS” box will allow you to put money on your student’s BHMS cafeteria account. For more information about student lunches, including the Free and Reduced Lunch program eligibility, click HERE. Families must reapply for Free and Reduced lunch every school year.
