INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOVE UP DAY ON FRIDAY, MAY 24

Each year there is a district-wide Move Up Day (referred to as Step Up Day at BH High School), when students who will be moving to a different BHS building next school year spend time at that building. This year Move Up Day is the morning of Friday, May 24, which is also 1/2 day of school. Here is how Move Up Day will work for BHMS students.

8th graders should NOT report to BHMS at all on May 24. Instead, follow these instructions. There is no need to call 8th grade absences in to the BHMS attendance line that morning.

8th Graders Who WILL Attend BH High School (BHHS): Students should go directly to the BHHS campus at the times indicated in this letter from BHHS Principal, Charlie Hollerith. The letter refers to bus transportation. Here is the BHHS Morning Bus Schedule (best viewed on a computer screen due to print size). Please refer specific questions about BHHS buses to the Transportation Department at 248-341-6290.

8th graders who WILL NOT attend BH High School: These students do not need to report to school on May 24. No need to call in the absence.

5th, 6th and 7th Graders: Students in these grades will participate in activities with the teachers from the grades that they will be in next year. The morning start time does not change, and the 1/2 day ends at 11:35 a.m.

4th Graders from Way and Conant: BHMS will host current 4th graders from Conant and Way on Move Up Day. If you have a 4th grader at one of those schools, please carefully review this Move Up Day Information specifically for your students.

The BHMS 8th grade Musical Theatre classes will perform School House Rock Live! Jr. on the evening of Wednesday, May 22. Performance time for the A Day cast is 6:30 p.m., and for the B Day cast is 8:15 p.m. Admission is free, so come enjoy the show.

8TH GRADE NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY DEADLINE

For 8th grade students who submitted an NJHS Pledge Sheet in the fall, Mrs. Jaster has been calculating GPAs from the first three report cards and is meeting with students, as needed, to be sure this requirement is being met. Students need to have a Service as Action reflection completed by May 24, for a volunteer activity completed outside of the school day. The reflection should be submitted on the online Service as Action Form. Those completing the form for NJHS credit should indicate so at the bottom of the first page. The topic for the final requirement, which is an essay, will be shared with students after the Q3 report cards are out and GPAs are calculated, in mid April. The NJHS induction ceremony for students who have met all the requirements will be held at BHMS on Wednesday, June 5, at 7:00 p.m. Contact Mrs. Jaster if you have questions.
