  • ***January 10, Thursday at 10 am: Mother Goose Club.  Simple stories, nursery rhymes, finger plays, music and movement for babies and toddlers, ages 6-24 months, with a loving adult.  Registration is required.
  • ***January 10, Thursday from 1-3 pm: Digital Download Help.  Stop by for a little extra help with accessing Overdrive, RBDigital, Freegal or Hoopla on your tablet or smartphone.  For Bloomfield Township residents only.  No registration required.
  • ***January 11, Friday at 10 am: Movers and Shakers.  For older toddlers and early preschoolers, ages 2-3 years, ready for “interactive” story time fun, but not quite ready to be on their own yet…accompanied by their special grown-up.  Registration is required.
  • ***January 11, Friday at 12 Noon: English Language Conversation Hour.  Our new drop-in group is for anyone who is interested in improving their English by chatting with others for whom English is a second language.  No registration required.
  • ***January 12, Saturday from 9:30am–3:30pm: Friends of the Library Second Saturday Sale. (First hour for Friends’ members only).  Held in the Friends’ area in the Lower Level of the library.  Come find a treasured book or favorite movie!
  • ***January 12, Saturday at 11-11:45 am: SENSEational Story Time.  This sensory story time is geared to differently-able children ages 3-10 years who have a hard time in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or have other developmental delays and/or sensitivity to sensory overload.  Visuals, rhythmic preschool-level stories, and sensory activities will be included in this interactive story time.  Siblings are welcome!  Registration is required.  Non-residents may register one week before if space is available.
  • ***January 14, Monday at 11 am: Adult and Teen Sensory Storytime.  Join us for a fun sensory storytime including stories, songs, movement and art.  For adults and teens with special needs and a support person.  Please call Ed Niemchak and let him know if you’re coming and/or if you have any questions.  No registration required.
  • ***January 14, Monday from 4:30-5:15 pm: Mindful Mondays Yoga Series.  Calm your body and clear your mind! Join us after school for yoga movement, breathing and visualizations then start your week feeling relaxed and focused.  For yogis of all abilities, ages 9-13.  Please bring a mat. Classes taught by Belighful Yoga instructor (www.belightfulyoga.com).  Registration is required.  Non-residents can register one week before the program by calling Youth Services.
  • ***January 14, Monday 4:30-6 pm: CS First Music and Sound – Computer Programming for Kids, Grades 4-8.  In Music and Sound, students use the computer to play musical notes, create a music video and build an interactive music display while learning how programming is used to create music.  Registration is required.  Non-residents can register one week before the program if space is available.
  • ***January 14, Monday at 7 pm: Readers’ Club.  Whether you want recommendations for new reads, want to discuss books and authors with other readers, or you want to learn all about reading resources from a librarian, the Readers’ Club is for you!  Registration is required.
  • ***January 15, Tuesday at 10 am: Tinker Tales.  Children, ages 3-5 years, come to this story time on their own as they become independent enough to participate and explore without a parent or caregiver.  They will “tinker” in a story time filled with tales, rhymes, music and scientific discovery.  Registration is required.  Non-residents may register one week before the program if space is available.
  • ***January 15, Tuesday from 3:30-5 pm: Tutor.com Tuesday.  Find out how to get help with your homework and exams. Learn about our homework help resources at this fun pop up event.
  • ***January 15, Tuesday from 3:30-5 pm: Teen Advisory Board (TAB).  All teens are welcome to attend.  Help select materials for the Library’s Teen Area.  Promote reading and the Library to other teens.  TAB meets quarterly each year.  Registration is required.
  • ***January 15, Tuesday at 7 pm: Michigan Author Series - Jan Bills, Late Bloomer.  Ever dream of changing careers to follow your passion?  Jan Bills will discuss her experiences leaving her job in the corporate world to become a master gardener, business owner, and author.  All are welcome to attend.  No registration required.
  • ***January 15, Tuesday at 7 pm: BTPL Board of Trustees Meeting.  Board meetings take place in the Rumsey Board Room.  No registration required.
  • ***January 16, Wednesday at 10 am: Wee ALL Play.  Drop-in for unstructured play and discovery in the Story Room.  Caregivers and little ones, ages 0-3 years, can interact with toys and books to support your child’s learning and development. Adaptive toys for children with low vision, motor difficulties, and/or other special needs will also be included.

We have answers!  Join our technology staff in the Computer Lab to receive one-on-one assistance from our experienced Techs.  Topics can include: Microsoft Products, Web Applications, Social Media, Email, and how to use our personal digital device.  Assistance is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  No registration required.

  • ***January 19, Saturday at 11 am: Tablet Tales.  A digital story time for children ages 3-5 with an adult.  We will explore using technology and apps to tell stories, learn songs, encourage movement and have fun!  Registration is required.

Chamber music presented by talented students from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater and Dance.  This concert is free, open to everyone, and no registration is required.  Sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Zingerman’s has been a Michigan institution since 1992.  Join Zingerman’s co-owners as they discuss their cookbook and share the Bakehouse’s unique history and business philosophy.  All are welcome to attend.  No registration required.
