August 5, 2026 Update

Thank you to everyone in our community who participated in the August 4 election and took the time to vote on the Oakland County Regional Enhancement Millage.

The proposal did not receive voter approval.

Overview

The Oakland Schools Board of Education voted to place a Regional Enhancement Millage on the August 4, 2026 ballot.

If approved by voters, this county-wide millage would provide additional funding to all public school districts and eligible public school academies in Oakland County on a per-pupil basis.

If approved, funds would begin being collected in December 2026.

What percentage of the taxes paid by Bloomfield Hills taxpayers would come back to Bloomfield Hills Schools?

I heard Bloomfield Hills Schools is a “donor district.” What does that mean?

A “donor district” is one where local taxpayers contribute more in millage taxes than the district receives back in funding. With the Oakland County Enhancement Millage, funds are collected countywide and distributed equally on a per-student basis. If approved, Bloomfield Hills Schools would receive approximately $781 per student each year for six years, which would be used to support programs and services for students.

On February 23, 2026, the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education voted 4–2 to approve the Regional Enhancement Millage Resolution for Oakland County.
