Dear BHHS Families,
We hope you had a safe and enjoyable break. This first week of school included the impact of events that occurred at our nation’s capital. The events were very difficult to watch and comprehend, and have a major impact on our community and students. As Black Hawks, it is important that we remember our core values and beliefs and that relationships and taking care of each other is one of our cornerstones at BHHS. It is very important that our students, staff, and families feel safe and supported. Please reach out to counseling or administration if you have concerns about supporting your student. We are committed to helping all students navigate this difficult time. We will continue to provide resources and support for families moving forward.
Yesterday evening, an unacceptable video was posted on social media of one of our students and then shared which included racist hate speech. A full investigation is underway. There is no place for racism, hate speech, or discrimination in our community, schools or online environments, and administration takes these incidents seriously. We applaud the students that brought this incident to the appropriate adults. We, as a school community, stand for respect and inclusion, a place where all are free to learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
We also wanted you to know our Board of Education has approved our return to our hybrid schedule on February 1, the start of second semester. More information regarding our return to hybrid schedule will be forthcoming.
We also have included important information regarding the pass/fail option and the Final Experience below.
Please have a safe and enjoyable weekend! Go Black Hawks!
