BYA - Bloomfield Youth Assistance

VISIT https://bloomfieldyouthassistance.org/

A community-based program created to strengthen Bloomfield youth and families and reduce the incidence of delinquency, neglect and abuse through community involvement.

What is Bloomfield Youth Assistance?

Founded in 1967, Bloomfield Youth Assistance (BYA) provides youth and family services, including caseworker counseling, educational programming, scholarships, youth recognition and mentorship.  We’re powered by municipal and volunteer support. We aim to strengthen Bloomfield Hills’ youth and families through community involvement, reducing the incidence of delinquency, abuse and neglect.

BYA is part of a larger network of 26 Youth Assistance Offices in Oakland County; any child or family that resides in Bloomfield Hills Schools is eligible for our services.

We receive support and sponsorship from:

  • The Oakland County Circuit Court - Family Division
  • Bloomfield Hills Schools
  • Bloomfield Township
  • Passionate local volunteers
  • Grants and donations

Two components are essential to our success:

Counseling Service

We provide confidential casework services and receive referrals for these services from the police, teachers, parents, guidance counselors, social workers and The Family Court Division Intake Unit Typical reasons for referral include retail fraud, school and home problems, assault, alcohol and drug abuse, and violations of local ordinances.

Community Organization

Essential to our vibrancy and success is our ability to respond to community needs. We identify issues that contribute to delinquency, abuse and neglect -- and then mobilize to locate existing community resources to address the challenge. And, if a resource doesn't exist, we develop those programs and initiatives. Please consider joining our organization -- we’re actively recruiting passionate, actionable volunteers. If you have an interest, we have a spot for you!
