Former United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized Eastover Elementary School as a 2015 U.S. Department of Education Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a highly recognized symbol of commendable teaching and learning. Schools are honored at a ceremony in Washington D.C. with a plaque affirming the hard work of students, educators, families and communities, and presented with a special flag to grace the school building. “This is an incredible honor for our school,” said Principal Carey Crocker. “The teachers, students, and families have worked hard to earn this distinction.” To read more click here.

Visible Thinking and Sustainability

At Eastover, we aim to educate the whole child. In addition to a comprehensive curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards, students receive instruction in music, art, Spanish, physical education, and technology. Students also engage in learning opportunities that develop their creativity, compassion, and leadership skills. Character traits are continually reinforced through our Positive Behavior Support program. Our Visible Thinking initiative provides a culture of thinking that fosters creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students are given opportunities throughout the year to make a positive impact at home, in the community, and beyond, through our school sustainability initiative.
