English Language Department staff coordinated a multilingual family event, hosted at Bloomfield Hills High School, to help families connect, share culture, and learn about area resources.

Each year, the Bloomfield Hills Schools Parent-Teacher Organization Council partners with a local organization for Make a Difference Day, which is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of October. This year’s partnership with Humble Design in Pontiac focused on assisting in the effort to end homelessness.

The first day of school was a great success, with smiles all around from students and staff. It's an exciting time as students embark on their educational journeys and experience personal growth throughout the school year.

Over the past several months, we have made significant progress with our bond construction.

Bowers introduces a brand new program called Harvest Club. A mash up of a traditional CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and a modern subscription plan, the Harvest Club is a great way to source fresh and local produce for your family while supporting Bowers School Farm.

Bowers Academy has joined forces with Way Elementary enabling Bowers students the opportunity to give back within the district while learning a bit about teaching in the process.

Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation Board members recently announced the recipients of the 2022-2023 BHSF grants by visiting schools and surprising winners with the good news! Giant checks created smiles from school to school.

Across Bloomfield Hills Schools this past semester, students have been hard at work to help our schools receive the No Place for Hate designation. An initiative of the Anti-Defamation League, No Place for Hate involves students leading the way, designing and implementing three activities over the course of a school year to gain the designation.

BHS will no longer be utilizing Community Pass for lunch deposits. Electronic funds (paying by bank account or credit card) should now be done directly in ParentPortal. Instructions are available here.

Students at Way Elementary came to school at night in their pajamas to enjoy cookies, milk, and a literacy event. The event, Books at Bedtime, was held in conjunction with several other activities during the week of the Way Book Fair. Special guests including Bloomfield Township Library Youth Services Librarian Patricia Ballard, Way Principal Michelle Fiebke-Lang, and Way Media Center Specialist Cindy Zervos read books to the many participants. Even Marge, Way’s new therapy dog, was there to hear the stories!

There are not many changes from what students and staff experienced in the Spring regarding our COVID-19 protocols, but this is a good reminder for all of us. 

We wanted to make you aware of a road closure that will impact some of our students, staff, and families, primarily those at BHHS, Dublin (D/HH, BYA), Lone Pine, and Way from September through November.

Bloomfield Hills Schools families may receive an encrypted email from Virtru. This is a legitimate email provider used by Bloomfield Hills Schools to improve data protection and privacy.

Bloomfield Hills Schools celebrates the diversity of families within the school community with an annual Multicultural Celebration. Now in its fourth year of being a district-wide event, the Parent Teacher Organization Council, composed of volunteer family members from across Bloomfield Hills Schools, hosted this educational celebration of culture in the Bloomfield Hills High School Main Commons.

The Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation announced the recipients of the Spring 2022 BHSF Grants. This year’s grant projects include technology tools, student manipulatives, diverse literature, guest speakers, STEM tools, musical instruments, learning games, field trips, outdoor/experiential learning equipment, social/emotional learning resources, and other unique learning opportunities.

International families from across Bloomfield Hills Schools recently attended an information night and community-building event. The English Language Development department, led by Lisa Lockhart was instrumental in providing engaging sessions for families from around the globe attending BHS.

Several schools and student groups across Bloomfield Hills Schools took the initiative to support students at Oxford schools following the recent tragedy in the neighboring district. 

Bloomfield Hills Schools is proud to announce that K-12 student artwork is being displayed from now through Monday, November 29, at the Oakland Schools ISD.

During the annual "Farmer for a Day" field trip, kindergarteners learn from Bowers Academy students about farm jobs and how to take care of the animals.

Thank you to the BHS PTO Council and school families who generously donated to Gleaners Food Bank. BHS donated $6,729.26 in monetary funds, plus an incredible amount of non-perishable food and personal items.

Bloomfield Hills Schools was recently gifted with book bundles from the organization, Girls of the Crescent, that will increase the diversity within the District's literary collections in our media centers.

Beginning this fall, students and staff at West Hills and Lone Pine  welcomed therapy dogs into the schools’ classrooms. Throughout the remainder of this school year, the goal is to place therapy dogs in every Bloomfield Hills School. 

On Friday, May 28, 2021, there will be a transition day for many of our students, commonly referred to as “Move Up” day. This is a half day for all students.
