Congratulations to our Fall 2021 sports teams at Bloomfield Hills High School. Many teams had amazing seasons with league and regional titles. In addition, numerous athletes won significant awards, including state titles.
The Boys Soccer team went 5-4-4 across the season. Showing tremendous growth and fantastic defense, they won the League Championship in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Blue Division.
Boys Tennis continued their dominance of the Division 1 teams, winning the District and Regional Championships and capturing second place at the State Finals. Five players won individual/doubles state titles: Ethan Endelman (grade 10), Dominic Pascarella (grade 9), Aaron Rose (grade 10), Pierce Shaya (grade 9), and Daniel Stojanov (grade 11.)
Girls Cross Country teammates Kate Jenkins (grade 12) finished in 4th place and Grace Jenkins (grade 12) finished in 11th place at the Region 7-1 Championship which qualified the twin sisters for the MHSAA State Meet. The Division 1 race was held at the Michigan International Speedway where Kate finished 92nd with a time of 19:28:24 and Grace 210th with a time of 20:48:91. For the Boys Team, finishing in the Top 50 at regionals were Owen Replogle (grade 11) at 43rd and Noah Murray (grade 9) at 49th.
The equestrians compete as part of the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association. This year’s team continued their winning streak with their three-peat (2019, 2020, 2021) as District Champions.
The varsity football team was undefeated, finishing 9-0 and ending their season as League Champions. In addition, the team was named #1 in the state for Division 1 All-Academic Football Team.
Girls Field Hockey Team
In just its third year of existence as a BHHS sport, the Girls Field Hockey team made the Michigan High School Field Hockey Association Division 2 playoffs. Players Addy Bilkie (grade 12) and Charlotte Carleton (grade 11) were selected to the 2021 Michigan All-State Field Hockey Team.
Girls Golf Team
The players on the Girls Golf team had a fantastic season, winning the Regional Championship in a three-way tie with Rochester Adams and Troy High. The team then competed in Division 1 States where they finished 13th overall. Sydney Kennedy (grade 12) was named Honorable Mention All-State, Academic All-State, and 1st Team All-League. Esha Varchasvi (grade 12) was named 1st Team All-State, Academic All-State, and 1st Team All-League.
Girls Swim and Dive Team
The team competed in the tough top Red Division and finished 5th, but sent four team members to the Division 1 State Championship meet where they placed 17th overall. Brooke Thompson (grade 11, International Academy) finished top 8 in the state 50 and 100 Freestyle events, earning all-state honors and breaking their own school record in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Demetra Bicos (grade 10) finished 14th in the state in the 500 Freestyle and also set a new school record in that event. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Meghan Hunt (grade 11), Bicos, Caley Pitts (grade 11), and Thompson finished 13th overall at the state meet with the most points scored by the girls since Lahser and Andover high schools merged.
