Meals for Kids - Fall Update

This fall, Bloomfield Hills Schools will be continuing free curbside service for students for all students, including virtual learners. An MDE waiver for free meals was passed on Monday, August 31, 2020, to allow the continuation of the free summer meal program through at least December 31, 2020.

Meal distribution will begin Thursday, September 10, curbside at Bloomfield Hills High School 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the virtual and distance learning schedules. Meals will be provided for breakfast and lunch through the next service day, Monday, September 14, 2020. A morning distribution is being considered starting Monday, September 14, 2020, as well, depending on the time constraints families may have in picking up meals during the scheduled times. Please let Food Services know if you need meals but cannot come during the 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. time slot on Mondays and Thursdays by emailing foodservices@bloomfield.org.

If you need meals for Tuesday, September 8, and Wednesday, September 9, 2020, please email foodservices@bloomfield.org or call 248.341.5671 by Friday, September 11, 2020, to preorder your meals and pickup times for those days.

The meals served curbside are intended to be prepared at home, so although all items are pre-cooked, some simple cooking may be necessary to achieve the optimal taste and texture of the product. See the second page of the menu for item descriptions and reheating suggestions.

If and when your child returns to in-person learning, meals will be provided in schools, either to take home if they are attending ½ days or cooked in the kitchens and ready to eat in school on full days for free.

If you feel that you may qualify for Free or Reduced priced lunches, please make sure to fill out an application or update your existing status. There are many other benefits available if your child does qualify, beyond receiving reduced price or free meals in our schools.

Oakland County Health Department Mosquito Bite Notice

Oakland County Health Division and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are reminding residents to take precautions from mosquito bites as cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) have been confirmed in 2 horses in Holly and Ortonville. To date, no human cases have been identified.

MDHHS also recommends out of an abundance of caution that officials consider postponing, rescheduling or cancelling outdoor activities occurring at or after dusk, particularly activities that involve children. This would include events such as late evening sports practices or games.

COVID pre-screen flyer

Families, staff, and visitors/vendors are required to complete the daily pre-screen before coming to school. Students (not currently enrolled in the Bloomfield Virtual program) will begin attending school in-person in the hybrid model according to the phase-in timeline and must complete the pre-screen daily.

The pre-screen is available at www.bloomfield.org/pre-screen and can be completed from any computer, tablet, or mobile device. Paper copies are also available for those who wish to print the checklist for a home reference.

Students and staff do not need to display a screen or paper upon bus or building entry according to guidance received from the Oakland County Health Division. Visitors/Vendors must complete the digital pre-screen prior to building entry and visitors/vendors will be greatly limited to minimize exposure risk. Student Athletes will also be required to complete the digital pre-screen prior to participation in athletics.

Thank you for your cooperation and daily diligence in this process!
