Wing Lake Playground Closed for Public Use

To protect the health and safety of Wing Lake students, the Wing Lake Developmental Center playground will be closed to the public beginning April 21, 2021 until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our community, but as a district we believe this is a necessary step to ensure the safety of our students.

Last month, Wing Lake enacted a new No Pets Rule on school grounds due to having issues with unleashed dogs charging students and an abundance of animal waste being left on the playground. Unfortunately, this rule has not been followed, which puts Wing Lake students' health at risk.

Wing Lake services more than 110 severely medically compromised students with significant cognitive and multiple disabilities. This means that inedible items become health hazards for our students. Maintaining a safe, clean, and well equipped playground is of utmost importance to our students.

We appreciate your help and support in keeping students safe and this grant-funded playground well-kept.
