BHHS Daily Living Visits the Animal Shelter

On Tuesday, April 30, Mrs. Haines's Daily Living class at Bloomfield Hills High School visited the Bloomfield Township Michigan Animal Shelter.

During this semester, students in Daily Living have been baking dog treats and making dog toys with plans to donate these items. Using recycled t-shirts from BHHS's lost and found, the students in Daily Living created braided dog toys. They also made dog treats from ingredients like: whole wheat flour, peanut butter, baby food, and herbs (for fresh breath).

During the visit, Gwen Lund gave the class a tour of the shelter, introduced students to the animals, and explained a bit about how the shelter runs. The shelter is part of the Bloomfield Township offices and supported with the property taxes of residents and appreciated donations. There usually is no fee to adopt their animals. They do their best to match an animal's temperament and personality for best placements.

The visit was an amazing class experience and positive way to give back to the community! The Bloomfield Township Michigan Animal Shelter can be reached at (248) 433-7757.
