Michael, an oboe player, will perform in the All-State Middle School Band on Saturday, January 28, 2018, in the DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids as part of the 13th Annual Michigan Music Conference. The MMC is a conference for all music teachers (instrumental, vocal and general music) in the state. Conducting the All-State Middle School Band is Mr. Robert Herrings, an active clinician and adjudicator around the state. Michael studies privately with Ann Lemke and his band director is Kendra R. Peterson at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. He is also a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles. In the 2016-17 season, as a seventh grader, Michael was first chair of the Symphonic Band. For the 2017-18 season he is first chair in the Concert Orchestra.

The MSBOA All-State program was established in the 2005-06 school year by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association. MSBOA has been serving the instrumental music teachers and students of our State for over 76 years. They proudly represent over 1,200 public, parochial and private schools and over 1,600 instrumental music teachers in Michigan. MSBOA continues to follow the mission of our founders as to provide quality musical experiences for the students of our member schools.
