Bloomfield Youth Assistance recently received a $7,000 grant from the Eagles for Children program, a program where club members donate money for every eagle a golfer scores. All of the money is distributed to area organizations that provide services to children in need.
The presentation of the check was made on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Oakland Hills. BYA President Denise Ullem received the grant on behalf of BYA.
BYA has been in existence since 1967 and gives enrichment grants to students in all schools, public and private, within the area bounded by Bloomfield Hills Schools. The grants are for at-risk or in-need students and are used for special services, like sending students to summer camp or music programs and other opportunities.
Since it was founded 7 years ago by Don Kegley and Hal Zaima of Oakland Hills, the Eagles program has steadily grown raising $1.6 million in total.
