"Ingrid Day was an exemplary leader, exemplary Board President, a great friend, and we are so appreciative for all she has done to support the district and lead us for many years," said Dr. Glass, Superintendent. Day was honored at a ceremony to dedicate the Bloomfield Hills High School Commons in her name.
Day served on the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education and was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award in the spring of 2017.
"What a great listener she has been over all these years," said Grat Dalton, former Bloomfield Hills Schools Teacher's Union Rep. "She's been an incredible advocate for public schools," said Christine DiPilato, Director of Learning Services. "Her ability to articulate what is needed is unmatched by no one," she added.
"My friend, Ingrid Day, has given her heart, soul, and talents to Bloomfield Hills Schools for over ten years. Her calm demeanor, guidance, and patience have helped our community move forward together," said Cynthia von Oeyen, current School Board President. "She worked with her colleagues with integrity and humor and her collaborative decision-making style helped guide our educational community into a new era."
Jan Frank, who worked tirelessly alongside Ingrid as a part of the Parent Teacher Organization said, "Everyone knows Ingrid's public legacy, but there was a lot of work behind the scenes, too. Ingrid quietly made an impact on many lives. From teachers who received a little help on classroom supplies to students who received meals. But that's Ingrid - she quietly took care of things she knew were needed and didn't look for any credit."
