Two Bloomfield Hills High School newspaper students were honored by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) during their Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Dallas, Texas November 16-19.
BHHS sophomore Jenny She placed 3rd in the NSPA Design Award, and class of 2017 Graduate Betsy Stubbs received an honorable mention for her comics.
"I honestly can't believe it. The award was so unexpected and I can't believe my design was chosen out of the millions of other incredible, talented works out there," She said. "Creating the design was not easy at all and I want to thank my parents, teachers, and the rest of the staff on the Hawkeye for supporting me. The Newspaper staff - [advisor Christina Hammitt], the editors-in-chief, [and] the rest of the staff, have all supported my in my design journey. I have always turned to them for constructive criticism and I could not be more thankful for their willingness to help."
