Governor's Top 30 Traveling Student Art Show - Congratulations Nia!

Congratulations to BHHS incoming junior, Nia Michalos, on being selected for the Governor's Top 30 Traveling Student Art Show! Nia's photography submission entitled Eggs was selected from over 500 submissions as one of 30 pieces on display. The exhibit is open now - August 23, 2019, at the Anton Art Center’s Petitpren Community Gallery in Mt. Clemens.

The Governor’s Top 30 Traveling Student Show is presented by the Michigan Youth Arts Festival and the Michigan Art Education Association and showcases selected artworks produced by high school art students from across the state of Michigan.

Nearly five hundred works are submitted annually and are adjudicated in a series of regional and state level exhibits down to a group of one hundred artworks. These pieces are featured in the Visual Art Exhibit at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival held each spring at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

Of the one hundred finalists, jurors choose 30 of the most outstanding works to produce the traveling collection. This show tours several different venues across the state for a year, until finally going on display in the Governor’s Executive Office in the state capitol in Lansing.
