Jazz Bands to Perform at Cliff Bells!
 

Come check out the Bloomfield Hills Jazz program performing at the historic Cliff Bells in Downtown Detroit on Monday, April 15, 2019!

The program will begin at 7 pm. Cover is $10. Reservations are highly recommended as this event tends to sell out.

About The Bloomfield Hills Music Department
The Bloomfield Hills Music Department and band program is one of the top music programs in the state of Michigan. The school has been a past recipient of the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) award for one of the best communities for music education. The Band consistently earns top ratings at both district and state MSBOA (Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association) festivals. The group has traveled to perform at various festivals across the country and abroad. In recent years the group has traveled to London, Edinburgh, as well as New York City. In 2014 the Symphony Band was invited to perform at the Michigan Music Conference, an in-service for teachers held annually in Grand Rapids. The Jazz Band has consistently earned superior ratings at MSBOA's State Jazz Festival.

Campus Band Receives First Division Ratings at MSBOA State Festival

Congratulations to the BHHS 9th Grade Campus Band for receiving straight first division ratings at the 2019 MSBOA State Band and Orchestra Festival! They are the first ensemble in the history of the newly formed BHHS to receive a first division rating at a festival. They are also the first group in the state of Michigan to receive straight first division ratings using the new MSBOA State Band and Orchestra format. Way to go!

BHMS Food Expo

Recently the 6th grade students at BHMS had a Food Expo, the culminating activity in their science Unit Challenge. The Unit Challenge asked students to educate their assigned characters, Carl and Mary, about digestion and help them solve their digestion problems. Throughout the unit, students have completed hands-on activities to gain experience and insight into the digestive system, constructed and used models of the digestive system, and developed arguments about appropriate food choices based on evidence and reasoning. They also learned how to optimize solutions following the Engineering Design Process and tied this to the MYP Design Cycle.
