BHS Robotics Teams Start This Summer; Registration Open May 11-31

Does your student have an interest in joining a Bloomfield Schools FIRST robotics team? Teams are available for students in grades 2-12 and start meeting this summer for the fall 2019 competition season.

The informational meeting for FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) for incoming grades 9-12 will be on May 8 at 8 p.m. The meeting for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for incoming grades 6-8 will be on May 8 at 7 p.m. Attendees will see the robots in action and have questions answered by coaches and program experts.  These two meetings will be held at Lasher Shop, 3456 Lasher Road, Bloomfield Hills.

You do not need to be a builder or programmer, although both of those roles are available. The teams run like a small business, so students with interests in marketing, fundraising, video/photography/writing, community service/outreach, and design also are needed on the middle school and high school teams.

The meeting for grades 2-3 and 4-5 has already taken place. Information and/or copies of the presentation are available by emailing

The registration for Fall 2019 teams will be available online through Bloomfield Recreation (search for Robotics) beginning May 11 with a registration deadline of May 31, 2019.  There WILL NOT be an opportunity to join a team in the fall as teams begin over the summer.
