The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education Announces Christina Kostiuk, CPA, CFO as Interim Superintendent

On May 23, 2019, the Board of Education appointed Christina ("Tina") Kostiuk the Interim Superintendent of Bloomfield Hills Schools, starting July 1, 2019.

Mrs. Kostiuk, CPA joined Bloomfield Hills Schools in 2011 as the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. In this role, she provides direction and administration over the financial operations for the district. Tina oversees the district's budgets and funds totaling over $100 million. Tina also serves as the Treasurer of the Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation.  In 2014, Tina was awarded the Oakland County School Business Officials Business Administrator of the Year and served as President of the organization during the 2015-2016 school year.

"Tina will do a beautiful job in supporting the district and continuing to move forward," said Dr. Glass.  "She has been a tremendous colleague - it's been my absolute pleasure to work alongside her," he added.

"The Board of Education has complete confidence in Mrs. Kostiuk's capable leadership of the district during this transition period," said Paul Kolin, President of the Board of Education.  As the Board of Education moved to appoint Mrs. Kostiuk to the role on May 23rd, Mark Bank, Board of Education Trustee and member since 2011 stated, "I think it sends a tremendous message to the rest of the administrators and staff in this district about the continuity of what's going on and the direction of the district."

Mrs. Kostiuk will serve as the Bloomfield Hills Schools Interim Superintendent until the Board of Education hires a new Superintendent and the individual has started work.  The Board of Education is slated to interview Superintendent Search Firms on June 5, 2019, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the large conference room at Booth Center. They anticipate making a search firm selection on June 6, 2019, during the Board of Education meeting that starts at 6:00 p.m. in the Bloomfield Hills High School Auditorium.

"I consider myself the bridge in this transition," said Mrs. Kostiuk.  "I hope to help Dr. Glass make an easy transition to New York, as he has done a great deal for our district and served us extraordinarily well.  We will miss him and his exemplary leadership," she said. "We have an exceptional district that I will have the enjoyment of serving until the Board of Education has found a new Superintendent - which, hopefully, is within the expedited timeline they've set," she added, laughing.  "I like to think of the bridge I'm going to be as something crossing a small stream - not something you'd cross to get to Canada," she joked. "In all seriousness, we have a talented and collaborative administrative team and the district will keep moving forward, just as we've planned.  It will be my honor to help facilitate that work until the Board of Education finds the right fit for our community," she said.

Before Mrs. Kostiuk assumes the Interim Superintendent role on July 1, 2019, the community is invited to wish Dr. Glass well in his next adventure by attending the June 6, 2019, Board of Education meeting.  The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
