2019 MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble Festival

Congratulations to all of the BHHS students who participated in the 2019 MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, March 16, 2019. The top scores from around the state will be compiled and students will be notified if they are selected to perform in the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in Kalamazoo in early May. Congratulations to the musicians who have earned a position the MYAF ensembles, to Debbie Wogaman (horn) who was nominated as top soloist in the state, and to the Black Hawk String Quintet on their nomination as one of the top chamber ensembles in the state! Submit a "Tot Shot" for the All Night Party

Parents/guardians of seniors: It's time for "Tot Shots" for the Senior All Night Party! This photo should be a headshot of your senior up to age 3 and no larger than 4 x 6 inches. If you submitted a photo to the yearbook earlier this year, please send a different photo. Please include the name of your senior along with the photo in your email to bhhstotshots2019@gmail.com no later than May 1, 2019.

The Pulsera Project Fundraiser

BHHS students and staff are invited to help Support Nicaraguan communities in need by purchasing $5 handwoven bracelets. The World Language Department will be selling them during ALL lunches the week of March 25-29, 2019, in the Main Commons. All profits go to support education, health, jobs, and housing in Nicaragua!

2019 Spring Testing Schedule

On Tuesday, April 9, Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11, 2019, all high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take the PSAT, SAT, ACT Work Keys, and M-STEP. The State of Michigan requires all students to take these standardized assessments. A separate letter will be sent home for students receiving testing accommodations. The Michigan Department of Education and Bloomfield Hills Schools have determined the following mandatory testing dates for these assessments which are located in the Spring Testing Schedule.

Three BHHS Artists Earn National Scholastic Art Awards

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers released the national results of the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Senior Rory Burman earned a national Silver Medal award for the photo "Confined." "The Family Tree" by junior Jenny She also received a national Silver Medal. Sophomore Nolan Lopez also won a national Silver Medal for the photo called "Midas". Congratulations to the student artists and instructors, Barb Brownson and Peg Pasternak, on these prestigious awards!

Alan Zhang & Balazs Szamosfalvi Advance to the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam Competition

Congratulations to BHHS junior Alan Zhang and senior Balazs Szamosfalvi for being nominated within the 11 out of 175 students who competed in the Local Chemistry Olympiad Competition on March 21 to advance to the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam on April 25 at U of M Dearborn! The top 20 students from the National Exam are then invited to attend a study camp where they could be selected for the International Competition to represent the U.S in Paris, France. Best of luck, Alan and Balazs!

Let's Travel to Spain!

Are you a Spanish student who is interested in furthering your knowledge of the language and culture while having a unique, fun and life-changing experience? Viajemos a España! Let's travel to Spain! For Spanish students interested in traveling to Spain next year over spring break (2020), there will be an informational meeting for students and parents/guardians on Tuesday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Knowledge Market. Hope to see you there!

Class of 2019 All Night Party

The planning for the All Night Party is in full swing and will definitely be a special night for our graduating seniors!  

We are currently looking for those of you who might have a connection with a business who may be willing to make a cash donation, or an in kind donation of food, gift cards or prizes for the party on June 9.  If anyone has an idea or knows someone that we should contact, please click HERE so that we can follow up.

2019 District Band & Orchestra Festival

Congratulations to our bands and orchestras for their amazing performances at the District Band and Orchestra Festival during the weekend of March 9-10.  For the second year in a row the festival was held at BHHS! Both the Concert and Campus Bands received a first division rating. The Symphony Band and Orchestra received straight first division ratings. The band received all A's in every subcategory from every adjudicator. The Campus Philharmonic both received second division ratings and were both one half grade away from a first division. Bravo to our terrific musicians!

Calling All Volunteers: Camp Stewards Wanted!
Are you a high schooler who is 14 or older? Do you love kids? Are you looking for a great way to spend your summer on the farm and help out as well?  The Bowers Farm Stewards Program is designed for high schoolers to become a mentor, friend, and volunteer during summer camps. As a Steward, students are committing to a minimum of 2 full weeks of camp, which run June 24 - August 23. Volunteer hours may count toward community service requirements. New! Nut-Restricted Zones

Bloomfield Hills High School has designated the Main Commons and Learning Communities A, B, C, and D on both the upper and lower levels as nut-restricted zones. There are students in our building who are highly allergic to nuts or nut products and will be eating in these zones. Please plan snacks and lunches accordingly. We appreciate in advance your full cooperation.
