BHS Student Wins First Place Science and Intel Awards for Cancer Detection Process

Pooja Kannappan, ninth-grade student at BHHS, competed at the 2019 Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit (SEFMD), winning a First Place Award. Kannappan's project "Detecting Metastatic Cancer in Digital Pathology Scans Using Machine Learning" also received an Intel Award Certificate for outstanding achievement in the category of Computer Science.

Yearbook Distribution
Yearbook distribution will take place on Thursday, May 30, during all lunches in the main commons. Seniors will pick up their yearbooks on the same day immediately following their 3rd hour exam. Over the course of the next two weeks your student's English teacher will distribute a yearbook ticket to students who ordered a yearbook. Students MUST bring their printed yearbook ticket to yearbook distribution. There is a limited supply of yearbooks available for purchase on a first come first serve basis during distribution on Thursday, May 30, during all lunches in the main commons. $80 cash or check payable to JOSTENS. No reservations allowed.

NCAA 2019 College Signing Day

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, Bloomfield Hills High School participated in NCAA College Signing Day. The following BHHS athletes signed their NCAA Letters of Intent to play college sports in the fall of 2019:

  • Phoenix Williams, Howard University, Tennis
  • Maryam Hashim, Macomb College, Basketball
  • Cassidy Proctor, Michigan State University, Hockey
  • Alex Gold, Lawrence Technological University, Golf

Isabelle Harber Receives Wellesley College Book Award

Congratulations to junior Isabelle Harber for being selected as the 2019 Wellesley College Book Award winner from the Wellesley Club of Southeastern Michigan! Isabelle was nominated by BHHS Counselor, Mrs. Hollyer-Madis, for being a student whose academic record and character are exceptiona,l and who has also made a significant personal contribution to the school/community. Isabelle was awarded the book The Norton Book of Women's Lives. Congratulations,Isabelle!

Jenny She Receives Harvard Book Prize Award

Congratulations to junior Jenny She for being selected as the 2019 Harvard Book Prize Award winner! Jenny was nominated by BHHS Counselor, Mrs. Brooks, based on character and academic excellence. The Harvard Club of Eastern Michigan is a local alumna/alumni association. Each year the Club provides a Harvard Book Prize to juniors attending selected high schools in the area. Jenny was awarded the book Making the Most of College. Congratulations, Jenny!

Ilyaas Rasheed Receives George Washington University Book Award

Congratulations to junior Ilyaas Rasheed for being selected as the 2019 George Washington University Book Award winner! Ilyaas was nominated by BHHS counselor, Mrs. Brooks, for being a student who exhibits leadership and dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as academic excellence and the ability to put knowledge into action. Ilyaas was awarded the book George Washington's Leadership Lessons. Congratulations, Ilyaas!

Senior Parking Permits

Attention Class of 2020 (next year's seniors): Class of 2020 students must purchase a parking permit for the 2019-2020 school year Wednesday, May 1, through Friday, May 24, in the main office.  Applications are available on the BHHS website and in the main office. ALL previous fines and fees must be paid before a completed Senior Parking Application is accepted. Many of you already have a parking pass for THIS school year, however, you MUST complete a new application AND purchase next year's pass NO LATER than Friday, May 24, if you plan on parking next year.  

Bring your completed application, along with payment, a valid driver's license and vehicle registration to Mrs. Mezey in the main office from Wednesday, May 1, through Friday, May 24, @ 11 a.m.  NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The 2019-2020 parking permit IS NOT a permit to park this year.  If an incoming senior does not yet have a driver's license, his/her spot will be held upon receipt of their application and payment.

Junior Parking Lottery

Attention Class of 2021 (next year's juniors): Class of 2021 students wishing to obtain a parking pass for next year may now apply for the Junior Parking Lottery by completing the information on the Junior Lottery Form on the front page of the BHHS website. Access to this form will CLOSE on Friday, May 31, at 2:30. The lottery will be held June 3 and current sophomores WHO WIN the lottery will be able to purchase their 2019-2020 parking permit June 10-14, AFTER all previous fines and fees have been paid.  This IS NOT a permit to park this year. If a junior wins a spot in the lottery and does not yet have a driver's license, his/her spot will be held upon receipt of their application and payment. Purchased parking permits are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. NON-TRANSFERABLE means nobody else may use your parking permit under any circumstances.

Class of 2019 All Night Party

Our Class of 2019 All Night Party is:  June 9 at 9 pm!  This is the Sunday evening after graduation!

It will be a special night for our graduating seniors!  It has been an annual tradition for over 40 years to give our graduating seniors a safe, fun, memorable and inclusive way to celebrate.  TONS of fun of all kids, food, games, music, hanging out, prizes, shows, contests etc.  Don't miss out!

 LAST DAY TO PURCHASE TICKETS IS MAY 24. TICKETS WILL BE SOLD DURING LUNCH MAY 20 AND MAY 21 - Here is the link to purchase online tickets.

Students in multiple Bloomfield Hills Schools organized, educated, and inspired others to take care of and celebrate the environment as part of the global Earth Day/Earth Week. There were service learning fundraisers for various community causes, huge events to promote environmental education, and small actions by staff and students to increase understanding of environmental issues.

Pay to Participate Refund

If you have paid your child's pay to participate fee this year but the student has not participated in a club or sport and you feel you are entitled to a refund, please complete the Pay to Participate Refund Request Form by Friday, May 24, 2019. Completed forms can be submitted via email to Angie Lewis at ALewis@bloomfield.org or by mail to BHS Recreation, Athletics, and Community Service, 7273 Wing Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301.
