Water and Wetlands in Panama

We are pleased to announce that we are beginning to work on an opportunity to take students to Panama during June 2020, and we are personally inviting your child to have this amazing experience! We (Angela B-W and Julie Honkala) have been fortunate enough to take students to Costa Rica in the past, and it was truly a life changing event. We selected the trip to Panama due to the exciting STEM-focused activities that this tour has to offer. We are hoping that your child will be able to share in this incredible experience!

Students will visit the Panama Viejo Ruins, historic sites in Panama City and learn about the tectonic plate movement that pushed Central and South America together.

Students will earn 7 hours of community service as they do field work with scientists restoring mangroves, removing invasive plant species or inventorying endangered shore birds.

Students will also join scientists at a tropical research station to learn about their work with preserving the forest.

Students will also advance their technology knowledge with a trip to the Panama Canal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world!
