BHHS Junior Chloe Beaney Receives 2022 Stewart Scholarship
Congratulations to Chloe Beaney (11th grade) for receiving the 2022 Stewart Scholarship in the Visual Arts! Beaney is active in the BHHS Theater program, working on prop design and technical projects. Beaney also was a Regional Scholastic Art Award Winner, receiving the Silver Key and Honorable Mention awards for digital art.
The Stewart Scholarship in the Visual Arts is awarded annually to a BHHS student specifically for additional visual arts instruction at approved organizations providing advanced studies in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, ceramics, photography, filmmaking, and more. The scholarship was established in 2007 at Lahser High School as a tribute to Norman Stewart, Bloomfield HIlls Schools artist/teacher from 1969-2006. It underscores the life values of integrity, excellence, performance, and vision Norman passionately instilled in his art students over nearly four decades.
Norman and wife Susan (former artist/teacher at Conant Elementary) are the founders of Stewart & Stewart, a renowned printer and publisher of fine art prints. Their fine prints, created in collaboration with artists nationwide, have been displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts, University of Michigan Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, and many other museums across Michigan and the country. Stewart & Stewart was one of the first printer/publishers inducted into the prestigious International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) in New York and is among the longest running independent printer/publishers in North America.
A portion of the sale of every Stewart & Stewart fine art print supports the annual Stewart Scholarship in the Visual Arts at Bloomfield Hills High School. The fund currently provides student support 20+ years into the future.
