Winter Park

The Bloomfield Winter Park is a revitalization of the Farm Activity Building on the property of the Bowers School Farm!

Winter Park will be open on weekends with sledding and skating (if permitted by weather conditions).  Warming and games along with concession items for purchase are available within the Farm Activity Building.  
Please bring your own sled & ice skates.  For safety, please only seated sledding on hill and only ice skates on skating rink.

Winter Park is a community-wide and FREE event.   We are seeking community sponsors and/or donations to support our Winter Park establishing it as a self-sustaining event hosted by our staff with food and drinks.   Please consider donating below (if you would like your donations to be used specifically for Winter Park, please note in the Comments sections).

Rules & Guidelines

Sledding Rules and Guidelines

Warning: Sledders and Spectators Assume All Risks and Danger of Personal Injury Arising From or Related to Admission to Bloomfield Winter Park, Including - But Not Limited to - Being Injured by Sledders, Sleds, Spectators or Objects in and Around the Sledding Hills and in the Building.

When “sled hill closed” sign is posted, no use of hill is permitted.

Must be 2 inches of packed snow on frozen ground for hill to be open.

  • This property is owned by Bloomfield Hills Schools, and rules and guidelines must be followed
  • Bloomfield Hills Schools is not responsible for accidents or injury, and sledding is permitted at your own risk.
  • Management is not responsible for items stolen anywhere on the property
  • Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the property at any time for any reason
  • Sledders must always obey rules and orders.  
  • Sledding is allowed in designated areas only
  • No snowboarding or skiing, sled hill is to be used for sledding only
  • Maximum 2 persons per sled and sledders must be seated at all times
  • Sled feet first, sitting up
  • No sledding head first
  • A helmet is recommended
  • Use caution when walking up the hill and use designated uphill walkways
  • Children must be supervised by an adult
  • Glass bottles or containers are prohibited
  • Be sure the hill is clear before proceeding
  • No pets allowed
  • No building of ramps, jumps, or moguls
  • Throwing snowballs or objects of any kind is prohibited
  • No smoking, vaping, drinking, drug use, etc. allowed on school property
  • EMERGENCIES CALL 911

Ice Rink Rules and Guidelines

Warning: Skaters and spectators Assume All Risks and Danger of Personal Injury Arising From or Related to Admission to Bloomfield Winter Park, Including - But Not Limited to - Being Injured by Ice Skate. Ice Skaters, Spectators or Objects in and Around the Rink and in the Building.

  • Bloomfield Hills Schools is not responsible for accidents or injury. Skaters skate at their own risk
  • Management is not responsible for items stolen or left within or near rink or building
  • Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave at any time for any reason  
  • Skaters must always obey rules and orders  
  • All skaters under 14 years old must be supervised at all times by their parents or guardian  
  • While on ice, skaters are not allowed to carry children or any other person  
  • No one is permitted on ice without skates
  • No stick or puck play allowed on ice
  • Ice Rink is to be used for Ice Skating only
  • No running, horseplay, or unruly behavior  
  • No jumps above axel, no double jumps, basic spins only. No camel spins. Figure skating maneuvers must be practiced in the inner circle  
  • No food or beverages allowed on ice  
  • No more than two people may skate together  
  • While on ice, no talking on cell phones or wearing headphones  
  • Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with other skaters’ safety or pleasure is prohibited 
  • Pass or overtake carefully
  • Roughness, excessive speeding or weaving through other skaters is prohibited  
  • No tag or games of any kind are permitted on or off ice  
  • Throwing snowballs or objects of any kind is prohibited  
  • While on ice, skaters must move in directions indicated by rink guards  
  • No one allowed on ice during resurfacing  
  • Malicious incidents or destruction must be reported to the management immediately  
  • When not on ice, walking while skate wearing is permitted only on rubber surfaces near rinks
  • Skates may not be worn indoors at any times
  • Socks must be worn at all times when using rental skates.  Speed skates are prohibited on public session.
  • No smoking, vaping, drinking, drug use, etc. allowed on school property
  • Exit must be kept clear at all times
  • Please use caution entering and exiting the ice

Please note: Skating conditions may not always be perfect. Beware of soft spots, rough edges, water puddles or other hazards. Always skate according to prevailing conditions and rink guards advice.
