PTO Food, Fitness, and Fun Club

Calling all food and fitness enthusiasts!  Come and join us on Thursday mornings for Eastover's Food, Fitness, and FUN Club!

We will meet Thursday mornings at 8am in Eastover's gym with the goal of introducing healthy lifestyles in a fun, age appropriate way for our Eastover students (K-3 grades).

Each week will focus on a variety of topics alternating between food and fitness.  In order to make this club work we will need parent volunteers to assist in managing and helping the kids with the day's activity.  We will need at least 3-4 volunteers to make sure things run smoothly and to assist any child that may need it.

So that we can make sure we have enough supplies on hand for every participant, please sign your child up below for the weeks they will be attending.  Parent volunteers should sign up below as well.  Please make us aware of food allergies.

Also we need parents with ideas!  If you have a passion or expertise in the fitness or wellness area or have a question about anything related to the club please contact Christine Anthony at cla@umich.edu or 248-921-5583.

Each week I will send out communication and reminders about the upcoming week's activity.

For November and December we have the following things planned:

November 21st - Strength and Conditioning

December 5th - Cheese Tasting - That's right - lots of cheese today! The kids will have an opportunity to sample a wide variety of cheeses!  Basic crackers will be provided as well.

December 12th - Meditation

December 19th - Holiday Feast - Strawberry Santas (strawberry, swiss cheese, banana, chocolate chips), Snowflake Tortillas (flour tortillas, cinnamon, powdered sugar), Cocoa (unsweetened cocoa powder, honey, soy milk, vanilla, mini marshmallows).

1) All our foods used will follow Eastover's peanut/nut free guidelines.  However if your child has a specific dietary need that cannot be easily accommodated in a large group environment they may wish to not participate that day.  Everyone will have the opportunity to taste all the options but no child will be required to eat any food that does not agree with them for whatever reason.

2) All of the fitness activities will be geared for the typical lower elementary level.  No one will be asked to do anything that is beyond their abilities and everything will be voluntary.

3) Students will check in at the gym and not be allowed to go to their classrooms to drop off their coats and bags.

If there are any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact Christine call/text - 248-921-5583 or cla@umich.edu.

Hope to see you!
