ear Eastover Community,
As your partner in education, I would like to personally welcome you to Eastover Elementary School. Please feel free to explore the contents of this website to learn more about our school. Eastover prides itself on being a compassionate and diverse learning community, where students, staff, parents and community members all work together to provide meaningful and authentic learning experiences for all students.
As the demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we need to work together to ensure our children reach their full potential. Our school is like an extended family and we work together to provide a world-class experience for each child.
Students SOAR at Eastover with our comprehensive educational programming. Our student-centered learning community provides positive behavior support where school-wide character traits and expectations are taught, practiced, and reinforced. Our school works as a team to tap into the unique potential of each child in a physically and emotionally safe learning environment. We work together to find the most effective tools to address students' social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
At Eastover, we aim to educate the whole child. Our school sets high expectations for everyone. In addition to a comprehensive curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards, students receive instruction in music, art, Spanish, physical education and technology. At Eastover, our students engage in opportunities through our Sustainability initiative and our Visible Thinking initiative. One special component of our sustainability initiative is our student garden. All students are able to make real-world connections to math, science and social studies while gardening, planting and harvesting. Visible Thinking creates a culture of thinking within the classroom where teachers make time to foster creativity, inquiry, problem-solving, critical thinking and collaboration. Visible Thinking is where a group's collective as well as individual thinking is valued, visible and actively promoted as part of the day-to-day experience for everyone. These attributes are critical to developing 21st century learners and preparing students for an ever-changing world.
With this in mind, you are invited to become an active participant at Eastover Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the PTO, a special event participant, or a member of the school in some way you are encouraged to be involved. Research on schools shows that parent participation and community partnerships lead to greater likelihood for academic success.
I look forward to serving you and the school community. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to learn more about Eastover or if you would like to schedule a tour. Stop by and witness a dynamic math lesson, or wander through our extensive student gardens, or come see student work on display at one of our student exhibitions. I look forward to having a long and rewarding partnership with you and your family.
