A Key to Some Terms that May Help You Out

BLOOMFIELD VIRTUAL K-5 - Bloomfield Virtual is an online school for grades K-5 ONLY. Parents had to enroll their K-5 students specifically in Bloomfield Virtual for either the entire first semester or the entire school year.  Students in Bloomfield Virtual WILL NOT physically return to a school building for the period of time they selected. Bloomfield Virtual has a distinct set of teachers from across the district and a newly named administrator, Mrs. Jen Teal (jteal@bloomfield.org).

DISTANCE or REMOTE LEARNING - Distance or Remote learning are interchangeable terms. For purposes here, we will use the term remote learning. These terms apply to our 4th and 5th graders who are NOT signed up for Bloomfield Virtual (as described above), PLUS ALL of our 6th, 7th & 8th graders starting September 8. Students in a remote setting will be taught online by East Hills staff. ALL of these students will begin the year remotely and will be phased back into a hybrid in person schedule as the district and state guidelines allow.  4th and 5th graders who are not signed up for Bloomfield Virtual are required to return in person at that time for their schedule AM or PM period. Students in grades 6, 7 & 8 may return to the building or continue working remotely.

HYBRID - The hybrid model will be a combination of remote and in-person learning. The start of our hybrid learning platform will be identified by our district and communicated with families as soon as it is approved.  4th and 5th graders who are not signed up for Bloomfield Virtual are required to return in person at that time for their schedule AM or PM period. Students in grades 6, 7 & 8 may return to the building or continue working remotely.

SAMPLE SCHEDULES - Sample schedules for each of our learning platforms have been shared with the community through board presentations, town hall forums, weekly broadcast messages, and other communication efforts.  These sample schedules are not your child’s specific schedule.  Each teacher will have the flexibility to design learning engagements that meet the unique needs of the students in their classes and will communicate to families their specific schedule.
