Administration Welcome
Andy Gignac - Principal
Mr. Gignac assumed the role of Principal at West Hills Middle School in January 2021, serving as the Associate Principal at West Hills for 11 years prior. Mr. Gignac has worked for 21 years in Bloomfield Hills Schools, first hired at Lone Pine Elementary School, and teaching 3rd and 5th grades over the course of six years there. Mr. Gignac then moved to West Hills Middle School, and became a 6th grade Social Studies teacher before transitioning to the role of Associate Principal.
Mr. Gignac notes, “I feel very fortunate to have worked with so many amazing students, teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff. The most rewarding experiences probably relate to implementing restorative practices within the building and truly helping to make it ingrained in our culture. Additionally, the work around facilities and the passing of the bond has been incredibly rewarding as I feel it has positioned Bloomfield Hills to be able to provide the best possible learning environments for all of our students for decades to come.”
Mr. Gignac looks forward to supporting the community as the work of the bond unfolds with the reconfiguration of schools. Mr. Gignac strives to continue to be approachable and supportive where problem-solving and working together to help students succeed is the focus.
Mr. Gignac proudly describe West Hills as being a special place - a place that values helping students grow and develop at their own unique level, understanding the intricacies of working with students who are eight, fourteen, and anywhere in between.
