My family and I (including my dog, Jack) love to spend time on the lake boating."
“I went to school at Grand Valley State University. I loved it there! Last year I was a math specialist in the Clarkston district. When I’m not teaching, I love to hang out with my family and my friends. We really like trying new restaurants. My mom and I are big foodies, so we try different places and then rate their dishes. I also have one sister who is a senior at the University of Michigan.”
"I grew up in Bloomfield Hills and went to Michigan State University. After graduating, I moved to Chicago and spent 7 years working in Chicago Public Schools. I moved back to Michigan three years ago to be closer to family. I have spent the past two years working for Ann Arbor Public Schools. I recently moved back to the Bloomfield Hills area and I am excited to join the Bloomfield Hills school community.
I love to garden, cook and spend time with my family.
I have a 1 1/2 year old daughter and a dog. As a family we enjoy spending time going on walks and playing outside."
"I am the Resource Room Teacher at Conant and Eastover Elementary grades K-4. I grew up in Canton, MI and graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in autism from Eastern Michigan University. My brother, Aaron who has autism, has been my inspiration and ignited the passion that I have for working with individuals with exceptional needs. I’ve taught general education at Logan Elementary in Ann Arbor and special education teacher at Orchard Hills Elementary in Novi.
I enjoy nature and spending time with my family. Looking forward to an amazing school year!"
"I am teaching 4th-8th in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program at East Hills Middle School. I teach all subjects to 4th grade and am responsible for the kids that are in the mainstream to keep up with their grades.
I have been in the district and have subbed and taught for over 10 years. I am originally from Michigan but have lived in Sweden (my mom is from there) I went to college in Texas, and I have lived in Utah. I moved back to Michigan because I missed my family.
I LOVE to travel and rock climb. At my last job at Planet Rock Climbing Gym in Madison Heights my dog went to work with me. I sure do miss having her at work and wish we had therapy dogs here at school. I am very involved with an organization called VAD (Volunteer Assisting the Disabled, vadcares.org). I am on the board of directors. Our organization helps adults with Muscular Dystrophy. Our organization runs a week long summer camp every year and it is my favorite week of the year.
I don't have a lot of family in Michigan as my mom is from Sweden but I have traveled there a lot. I do not have any kids of my own but spend a lot of time with my nieces and nephew. My favorite thing to do is to walk the Lake Huron beach, look for rocks, and watch my dog play and swim. My dog Bella is a therapy dog and we enjoy going out into the community. Our favorite place is Camp Cavell in Lexington, MI."
"I am at Bowers Academy working with every student as the social emotional learning social worker.
I obtained my master's degree in social work from Wayne State University in 1999. I have worked in public education for twenty years, providing support to students in both the general and special education settings. Throughout most of my career I have had the opportunity to work with students considered to be at-risk. This is my passion and I am very excited to continue this work in Bloomfield Hills. I was born in Michigan and have always lived in the metro Detroit area with the exception of a three-year stay in upper state New York.
My family and I enjoy traveling together to see different parts of the United States. We especially enjoy touring National Parks and big cities. This past summer we visited the coasts of Washington, Oregon, and California.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this past June. We have 3 children ages 17, 14, and 12. We also are the owners of a 100-pound Bernese mix, a 7 pound Papillon mix, and one large cat."

In my free time I love to read and write, walk my dog, spend time outside before it gets too cold, and visit with friends and family.
My dog's name is Rufus! He is about 8 years old and is a Wheaten Terrier & Lhasa Apso mix. Since the day we rescued him, he fit right into our family and has been our biggest joy!"

As far as giving back to the community is my role as a Special Olympics swim coach for the team USA at the World Summer Special Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and Dubai, UAE, and Winter World Special Olympics in Austria as a Skiing coach.
I am married and have one child who just graduated from college (woot woot) and is working as a pharmacist at a local pharmacy store."

"I start my day at West Hills Middle School co-teaching an 8th grade Algebra 1 class. After first hour, I finish my day at the high school with two Algebra 1 classes and one Algebra 2 class.
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in April. I did my student teaching at Oak Valley Middle School in Commerce. I had two Algebra 1 classes and three 8th Grade Math classes while student teaching. After graduating, I subbed the rest of the year at Lakeland High School in White Lake. At Lakeland, I took over three Algebra 1 classes and two Pre-Calculus classes. Although I've lived other places for brief periods of time, I grew up and lived in White Lake, MI for most of my life, and that's where I still currently live. It was cool to sub at Lakeland because that's the high school I graduated from!

I also love going new places and exploring, hanging out with friends and family, and gardening and flowers.”
"I am a social studies educator who works at both Bloomfield Hills High School and Bowers Academy!
This is my first year professionally teaching, but it certainly isn't my first time in the classroom. Last year I finished my student teaching at Michigan State University where I taught at Cass Technical High School in Detroit. Beyond that, I've also taught in numerous school buildings and facilities all around the Lansing area. Last summer I also worked at the Bowers School Farm Summer Camp program as the Camp Director!
While I was at Michigan State, I was a member of the MSU Travel Fencing Team! I competed with my teammates in places as far off as Providence, Knoxville, and Philadelphia, as well as all around the Midwest. When i'm not teaching or fencing, my other passion includes music! I've been playing piano since I was 5, was an avid percussionist in my high school marching band, and taught myself guitar.
I come from a line of educators, as my Grandma used to be one, and my Mom currently is teaching in the Allen Park district. My parents and the rest of my family are almost all from Lake Orion, despite us currently living in Allen Park still.
