Welcome Patrick Sidge, Administrator of Public Safety

Please welcome Patrick Sidge, a retired police sergeant with a strong background as a school liaison officer, who will be serving as the administrator of public safety for Bloomfield Hills Schools.

After serving for 25 years as a police officer in Berkley and then Farmington Hills, Sidge was the police sergeant for Farmington Hills for five years, until 2012. For twelve years of his time as a Farmington Hills police officer, Sidge served as the school liaison officer for Harrison High School. Sidge then served as the director for safe schools for Howell Public Schools, a criminal justice instructor for Kent ISD, a court security officer for the 44th District Court of Royal Oak, and worked as the school safety coordinator at Waterford Mott High School, totaling nine years of experience protecting our communities after serving as a police sergeant.

Sidge attended Michigan State University, receiving a B.A. in Criminal Justice, and Northwestern University for a degree in Supervision of Police Personnel. A native Michigander, Patrick enjoys spending time with family, including wife Joan and five children, plus the recent addition of a granddaughter. They have two German Shepherds. Patrick enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and water sports, and is an avid waterskier.

“As a father, I know how important it is for your children to feel safe within their educational communities,” shares Sidge. “One of my goals is to work closely with the BHS staff, students, and parents to help ensure this. I look forward to getting to know the BHS community and working together.”

The Administrator of Public Safety is a new role within Bloomfield Hills Schools. Patrick Sidge will work in collaboration with district and school administration to review and establish appropriate regulations, procedures, and plans to ensure safe and secure schools. Among other responsibilities, Sidge will regularly review and update District Emergency Operations Plans, will work with our Information Technology team to manage security camera systems, and will serve as the district’s liaison to work collaboratively with local law enforcement partners.

Bloomfield Hills Schools is committed to providing a safe environment for all students and staff.
