Volunteers Honored at Greater West Bloomfield Michigan Week Event

Four amazing volunteers were recognized at the 47th Annual Greater West Bloomfield Michigan Week Breakfast on May 10. Congratulations to WHMS student Grace Main, Family Ambassador Leah Abel, and WHMS Co-PTO Presidents Stephanie Langwell and Jaime Ben!

Grace Main is in seventh grade at West Hills Middle School.  She is a model of selfless commitment to community. She gives endless hours to the student leadership team, school newspaper and is an official Student Ambassador. She teaches character lessons in a fourth grade classroom and is a mentor to fifth graders.

Leah Abel has volunteered welcoming new residents and building stronger community relationships for years. The Newcomer's Program she began at Lone Pine Elementary School, now serves families across Bloomfield Hills Schools.  She has also led the district's Multicultural Celebration which showcases the cultures of more than 40 countries.

The West Hills school community is grateful for the leadership and contributions of our Co-PTO Presidents, Stephanie Langwell and Jaime Ben. Their stewardship and initiative have directly impacted our children, staff, and families of West Hills. Concrete steps to support equity and inclusion include funding clubs and extension field trips for learning. Additionally, they are active participants on our WHMS Global Education team which focuses on supporting the social and emotional well- being of all students.
